  • Padres' Domingo Tapia: Sent to Triple-A

San Diego optioned Tapia to Triple-A El Paso on Sunday.

Tapia gets the boot from the 26-man active roster to make room for Ryan Weathers, who was called up from Triple-A in advance of his scheduled start Sunday versus Dodgers. Over 10 appearances at the big-league level in 2023, Tapia has logged a 3.18 ERA and 1.41 WHIP across 11.1 innings.

  • Andre Pallante SP | STL

Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Picks up second win Saturday

Pallante (2-0) allowed a hit and struck out one over one scoreless inning in Saturday's 4-3 win against the Red Sox.

The Cardinals produced a comeback win for the second game in a row, and Pallante was the beneficiary after their three-run rally in the ninth inning. It's been mixed results for Pallante since he was recalled from Triple-A Memphis. He has given up a run in 4.1 innings while earning a win, a hold and a blown save over three appearances. The right-hander has a 5.68 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 10:5 K:BB through 12.2 innings overall as a middle reliever this season.

  • Ryan Weathers SP | NYY

Padres' Ryan Weathers: Recalled ahead of start

San Diego recalled Weathers from Triple-A El Paso on Sunday.

Weathers is getting a call-up in advance of his scheduled start in Sunday's series finale with the Dodgers in Los Angeles. The left-hander has pitched solidly in his limited chances with the big club in 2023, logging a 2.50 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 11:5 K:BB in 18 innings over five appearances (three starts). Domingo Tapia was sent down to El Paso in a corresponding transaction.

  • A.J. Puk RP | ARI

Marlins' A.J. Puk: Dealing with dead arm

Manager Skip Schumaker said Puk is experiencing some dead arm and may not be available Sunday against the Reds, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

The left-hander hasn't pitched since Wednesday in Arizona, when he picked up his sixth save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning. The Marlins have a team off day Monday, so it wouldn't be surprising if Schumaker tries to say away from Puk during Sunday's series finale in an attempt to get him two extra days of rest. Tanner Scott and Dylan Floro are the likely options to step in for a save chance if Puk is unavailable.

  • Reds' Reiver Sanmartin: Moved to 60-day IL

The Reds transferred Sanmartin (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list Sunday, Paige Leckie of MLB.com reports.

Sanmartin is currently expected to miss the next six weeks while he recovers from a stress reaction in his left elbow. The southpaw reliever is now off the 40-man roster and could be back as a middle-innings option for the Reds right around the All-Star break.

  • Silvino Bracho RP | CIN

Reds' Silvino Bracho: Added to MLB roster

Cincinnati selected the contract of Bracho from Triple-A Louisville on Sunday, Paige Leckie of MLB.com reports.

Bracho is one of a handful of reinforcements for the Cincinnati bullpen. The reliever last pitched in the majors for Atlanta in 2022 with a 6.23 ERA over 4.1 innings.

  • Alan Busenitz RP | CIN

Reds' Alan Busenitz: Contract selected from Triple-A

Cincinnati purchased the contract of Busenitz from Triple-A Louisville on Sunday, Paige Leckie of MLB.com reports.

Busenitz is one of three new relievers that are being added to the Cincinnati bullpen, and he'll have a chance to pitch in an MLB game for the first time since 2018. The right-hander will likely be a middle-innings option for the Reds while he's with the club.

  • Kevin Herget RP | NYM

Reds' Kevin Herget: Recalled from Louisville

Cincinnati recalled Herget from Triple-A Louisville on Sunday, Paige Leckie of MLB.com reports.

Herget was just sent down to Louisville on Saturday, but the right-hander is able to be recalled because the Reds placed Nick Lodolo (calf) and Casey Legumina (ankle) on the injured list. Herget should operate in the middle innings in this stint with the club.

  • Reds' Casey Legumina: Placed on 15-day IL

Cincinnati placed Legumina on the 15-day injured list Sunday with a right ankle contusion, Paige Leckie of MLB.com reports.

Legumina will miss at least two weeks while dealing with the ankle bruise. The Reds are bringing in a plethora of new arms, including Kevin Herget and Silvino Bracho, before Sunday's game against the Marlins to help stabilize the bullpen.

  • Dennis Santana RP | PIT

Mets' Dennis Santana: Contract selected from Syracuse

The Mets selected the contract of Santana from Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.

Santana has a good chance to pitch at some point in Sunday's twin bill against the Nationals. The Mets designated Seth Elledge for assignment to clear room on the 40-man roster for Santana while Joey Lucchesi was optioned to Syracuse in a corresponding transaction.
