Adbert Alzolay RP | NYM
Cubs' Adbert Alzolay: Bounces back to record save
Alzolay worked a perfect ninth inning to record the save in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Brewers. He struck out two.
It didn't look like Alzolay would be needed Wednesday, but the Cubs hung three runs on Devin Williams in the top of the ninth inning to take a 4-3 lead. Alzolay then made quick work of the Brewers in the bottom half, striking out the first two hitters before getting Christian Yelich to fly out. The righty blew his first save of the season a night earlier, but he's been good overall with a 2.41 ERA and 42 strikeouts across 37.1 innings this year. He should remain Chicago's top closing option moving forward.

Yohan Ramirez RP | PIT
Pirates' Yohan Ramirez: Recalled from Indianapolis
The Pirates recalled Ramirez from Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday.
Ramirez was optioned to Triple-A on June 20 after allowing five earned runs in 2.1 innings across his last three appearances. Since then, he's thrown four scoreless innings in the minors and has now re-earned a spot in the Pirates' bullpen. Luis Ortiz was optioned to Indianapolis in a corresponding move.

Brad Boxberger RP | CHC
Cubs' Brad Boxberger: Resumes throwing program
Boxberger (forearm) resumed throwing Tuesday in Arizona, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.
Boxberger was recently transferred to the 60-day injured list, but he's finally making progress in his recovery from the right forearm strain that originally sent him to the 15-day injured list in mid-May. The veteran reliever could be an option again for the Cubs' bullpen mix around the end of July.

Clayton Andrews RP | NYY
Brewers' Clayton Andrews: Sent back to Triple-A
Milwaukee optioned Andrews to Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday.
Andrews was lit up for six runs -- five earned -- over 1.2 innings (two appearances) during his four-day stay in the Brewers' bullpen. Tyson Miller and J.C. Mejia are both getting the call from Nashville ahead of Wednesday's game against the Cubs.

Jean-Carlos Mejia RP | MIL
Brewers' J.C. Mejia: Selected to MLB bullpen
Milwaukee selected Mejia's contract from Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday.
Mejia holds an ugly 8.89 ERA in 54.2 career innings of work at the MLB level, but he'll get another shot with the Brewers after delivering a 3.86 ERA and 32:13 K:BB over 30.1 frames this summer at Triple-A. The 26-year-old right-hander projects to fill a middle-relief role.

Zack Thompson RP | STL
Cardinals' Zack Thompson: Back in big leagues
Thompson was recalled from Triple-A Memphis on Wednesday.
Thompson was sent to Memphis in early May to stretch back out to start and the results weren't pretty, with the lefty posting a 9.09 ERA and 38:39 K:BB over 32.2 innings. It's not clear at this point whether the Cardinals plan to give him some starts with the big club or put him back in the bullpen where he's had success.
