Honeywell (elbow) recently threw on consecutive days for the first time in his rehab process and has increased his long-toss distance to 90 feet, Molly Burkhardt of MLB.com reports.

Honeywell still doesn't have a firm return date, but he does seem to be on a good run of uninterrupted progress over the last several weeks. Athletics head trainer Nick Paparesta notes he hasn't received any reports of setbacks on Honeywell's part, and the organization will remain focused on having him continue to build up his arm strength while throwing with a complete absence of any pain.

The Athletics placed Jimenez on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with a right shoulder strain, Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The injury is a tough break for the rookie reliever, who has emerged as Oakland's closer this season with 11 saves in 13 opportunities. As a result of his placement on the IL, Jimenez won't be eligible to return until July 4, and it's possible his absence lingers beyond that if he isn't cleared to resume throwing within the next few days. While Jimenez is on the shelf, A.J. Puk, Domingo Acevedo and Zach Jackson represent potential candidates to pick up saves.

Brash has gone 11 straight relief outings of an inning apiece at Triple-A Tacoma without allowing an earned run, Brent Stecker of 710 ESPN Seattle reports.

Brash was knocked around for five earned runs over one inning by Sacramento back on May 22, but he began his current scoreless streak in his next outing May 25. The promising right-hander opened the season as the Mariners' fifth starter before control issues lead to a May 5 demotion to Tacoma, where he's transitioned to the bullpen after the team decided it would be the role he'd be best suited for this season. Stecker notes Brash hasn't allowed so much as a single walk in 10 of the aforementioned 11 appearances, including six straight.

Peralta (2-1) earned the win over Tampa Bay on Monday, pitching a scoreless inning during which he allowed one walk and struck out one batter.

Peralta was called upon in the bottom of the ninth after the Yankees had taken a two-run lead in the top of the frame. He allowed a walk to begin his outing and also had a batter reach base on an error behind him, but the left-hander was able to close out the contest without allowing any runs to score. Though the situation in which he entered would typically net Peralta a save, the official scorer instead decided to credit him with the win per MLB Rule 9.17(c).

The Yankees claimed Abreu off waivers from the Royals on Tuesday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

The right-hander will join the Yankees for the second time in his career after he had previously been acquired by the organization in a November 2016 deal that sent Brian McCann to Houston. Abreu reached the majors with the Yankees for the first time in 2020 and made 28 appearances out of the big-league bullpen in 2021 before he was dealt to the Rangers prior to Opening Day. Between stops with Texas and Kansas City this season, Abreu logged a 3.46 ERA and 12:16 K:BB across 13 big-league innings. He'll fill a low-leverage role out of New York's bullpen once he's formally added to the active roster.

Holmes was tagged with a blown save Monday against Tampa Bay, allowing one run on two hits and a walk over two-thirds of an inning. He struck out one batter.

Yankees starter Gerrit Cole pitched seven no-hit innings before giving up a single to start the eighth, and Holmes was called in from the bullpen one out later. The usually reliable reliever couldn't get the job done, giving up a pair of hits and a walk to allow the Rays to tie the game. Though New York pulled ahead in the top of the ninth, Holmes wasn't credited with a win from the official scorer due to his ineffective performance, per MLB Rule 9.17(c). The blown save was the first of the season for Holmes, who has racked up 11 saves and seven holds while posting a 0.55 ERA, 0.73 WHIP and 34:4 K:BB over 32.2 innings.

Saucedo (hip) moved his rehab assignment to Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday and tossed a scoreless frame in relief in his first appearance for the affiliate.

Saucedo arrived in Buffalo over the weekend after striking out two in a scoreless inning for the Blue Jays' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate a few days earlier. He'll likely make another appearance or two at Triple-A before making his return from the 10-day injured list.

Taylor (back) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

Taylor has been on the injured list all season while recovering from a back injury. He previously made three rehab appearances at Worcester in April, only to be pulled off the assignment after suffering a setback. Seemingly healthy again, the reliever will now begin the process of ramping up again at Triple-A before making his way back from the IL. He was a big part of the Red Sox bullpen last season, collecting 15 holds and a save while producing a 3.40 ERA and 1.43 WHIP with 60 strikeouts over 47.2 innings in 61 appearances.

Beeks will start Tuesday against the Yankees and is expected to serve as an opener in what will likely be a bullpen day for the Rays, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Beeks will make his second consecutive start against the Yankees after he tossed two perfect innings while striking out one in a loss to New York last Thursday. Since allowing three runs to the Angels on May 9, the 28-year-old has surrendered just one run over 15.1 innings in his last 10 appearances and he now owns a 1.29 ERA and 0.93 WHIP with 33 punchouts over 28 frames this season. Ralph Garza could be deployed in long relief behind Beeks, though manager Kevin Cash hasn't committed to any of his bullpen arms being used as a bulk reliever.

Bummer (shoulder) has yet to begin a throwing program, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

General manager Rick Hahn expanded upon Bummer's injury Monday, noting that the issue was in the tendon connecting the shoulder and lat. Bummer continues to progress, but the team is playing his return cautiously to ensure the area is fully healed.
