Nationals' Bryce Harper: Expects to play Tuesday

Harper is not expected to sit out Tuesday after exiting Monday's game against the Mets with a minor leg injury, Chase Hughes of CSN reports.

Harper took a foul ball off one of his legs and also fell at first base, and with the game all but in hand by the sixth inning, manager Dusty Baker erred on the side of caution and took his star outfielder out of harm's way before the game was officially over. The 23-year-old still managed to go 2-for-3 with an RBI before his premature exit Monday.

  • Pirates' Andrew McCutchen: Picks up two more hits Monday

McCutchen went 2-for-4 with a double and a run in Monday's 5-4 loss to the Dodgers.

McCutchen's double was an integral part of a four-run first inning off starter Scott Kazmir, but he and the rest of the Pirates offense failed to generate much in the rest of the contest. The five-time All Star is having a subpar season by his lofty standards, but is starting to heat up a bit with a pair of multi-hit efforts in his last last three games after logging just one in his previous 16.

  • Justin Turner DH | CHC

Dodgers' Justin Turner: Suffered minor hamstring injury Monday

Turner left the game Monday after his hamstring cramped up in a ninth inning at-bat, Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reports.

It has been reported that manager Dave Roberts took Turner out of the game simply as a precaution and that the injury is not considered serious. He should still be considered day-to-day until more information is released.

Dodgers' Justin Turner: Leaves Monday's game with knee injury

Turner left Monday's game with a foot injury, Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reports.

Turner fouled a ball off his foot in the ninth inning and exited the game when the Dodgers took the field in the bottom half of the inning. He will likely be evaluated soon and more information regarding the injury should be released shortly.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Dodgers' Joc Pederson: Not in Monday's lineup

Pederson is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Pirates, according to David Vassegh of AM 570 LA reports.

As has typically been the case this season, Pederson will be held out with a left-hander -- this time, Francisco Liriano -- on the mound for the opponent. Trayce Thompson will get the start in center field in Pederson's place.

  • Marcell Ozuna DH | PIT

Marlins' Marcell Ozuna: Remains out Sunday

Ozuna (wrist) remains out of the lineup Sunday against the Cubs.

Ozuna was held out of action for Saturday's matchup due to what was later revealed as wrist soreness, and that ailment will force another absence Sunday. With a team day off on tap for Monday, the Marlins are likely being overly cautious with their center fielder in an effort to get him healthy before next week's two-game series in Detroit. With Ozuna on the shelf, Ichiro Suzuki will get his second straight start in center field.

  • Marlins' Giancarlo Stanton: Continues climbing out of slump Saturday

Stanton went 2-for-3 with a double, three RBI, two runs and a walk in Saturday's 9-6 victory over the Cubs.

Don't look now, but the Marlins slugger is finally showing some signs of life. He's recorded multi-hit efforts in five of his last eight games, and has a pair of homers and eight RBI over that span as well. Considering he was hitting .192 as recently as June 12, even Stanton's current .219/.319/.443 line is cause for optimism.

  • Pirates' Andrew McCutchen: Clubs two homers Saturday

McCutchen went 2-for-4 with a pair of homers and four RBI against the Dodgers on Saturday.

McCutchen led off the scoring for the Pirates with a solo shot in the first inning, and then gave the team the lead for good with his three-run shot in the sixth inning. This was only the second time he's homered in a game since May 27, though he now has 14 homers on the season.

  • Pirates' Andrew McCutchen: Thumb may be indirect cause of slump

McCutchen's thumb has played a role in his current slump, according to Travis Sawchik of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

McCutchen aggravated a pre-existing thumb injury in early June, but didn't miss much time as he played through the pain. Since the injury, he's hit .197 (14-for-71) in 19 games. The thumb has improved, but Sawchik says the injury led to poor results and a loss of confidence. Confidence doesn't appear to be an issue Saturday, as he's already hit two homers in consecutive at-bats against the Dodgers.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Dodgers' Joc Pederson: Out of lineup

Pederson is not in the lineup for Saturday's tilt with Pittsburgh.

Having not missed game action since June 6, Pederson will get a routine day off with Trayce Thompson filling in for him in center field. Pederson has heated up since mid-June, homering five times and reaching base safely in 11 of his last 14 games. The 24-year-old outfielder has slashed .300/.340/.680 with a 1.020 OPS over than span.
