  • Seth Beer DH | PIT

Diamondbacks' Seth Beer: Riding pine Thursday

Beer isn't starting Thursday against the Pirates.

Beer started the last three games and went 1-for-6 with three walks. He'll get a breather while Josh Rojas serves as the designated hitter with Emmanuel Rivera starting at the hot corner.

  • Joey Meneses DH | NYM

Nationals' Joey Meneses: Power surge continues

Meneses went 2-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Cubs.

The 30-year-old rookie has been a surprising contributor since joining the depleted Nationals' roster at the beginning of the month, going 8-for-23 (.348) in his first seven big-league games with four homers and six RBI. Meneses was posting solid numbers at Triple-A this season, and while his age and lack of pedigree don't suggest he'll be able to keep this pace up for long, Washington doesn't really have any better options for playing time as the club begins its rebuild.

  • Mets' Daniel Vogelbach: Drives in three Wednesday

Vogelbach went 2-for-5 with a double, a run scored and three RBI in Wednesday's 10-2 win over the Reds.

Getting the start at DH and batting cleanup, Vogelbach continues to provide the Mets with thunder they'd been lacking all season from their designated hitters. In 15 games since being traded from the Pirates, the 29-year-old has gone 15-for-44 (.341) with four doubles, two homers and 10 RBI. He'll likely be limited to the strong side of a platoon down the stretch, but Vogelbach's track record indicates he'll be able to stay hot longer if he avoids facing southpaws -- coming into Wednesday, he had a .935 OPS against RHP and a .415 OPS against LHP in 2022.

  • Bligh Madris DH | STL

Pirates' Bligh Madris: Sitting again Wednesday

Madris is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Jody Jackson of Bally Sports Arizona reports.

Madris is 2-for-15 with four walks and two runs through eight games in August and will take a seat for the second straight contest Wednesday. Bryan Reynolds will rest his legs as the designated hitter while Greg Allen receives a start in center field.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Giants' Joc Pederson: Sitting versus lefty

Pederson will sit Wednesday versus the Padres.

Pederson will take a seat as the Giants face off with the Padres and left-hander Sean Manaea on Wednesday. Luis Gonzalez will slide over to left field while Austin Slater enters the lineup in center field and bats leadoff in the series finale.

  • Justin Turner DH | CHC

Dodgers' Justin Turner: Collects two hits in return

Turner went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Tuesday's 10-3 victory over Minnesota.

Turner returned from a stint on the 10-day injured list to record a pair of hits in the win. He wasted little time getting in on the action, swatting a run-scoring double in the second inning. Fantasy managers who roster Turner will hope that the time away doesn't cool off his bat -- over his past 18 contests, the veteran third baseman is slashing .435/.507/.677 with four home runs and 17 RBI.

  • Mike Ford DH | MIN

Braves' Mike Ford: Activated and DFA'd

Atlanta reinstated Ford (neck) from the 10-day injured list Wednesday and designated him for assignment.

With Ford coming off the 40-man roster and Adam Duvall (wrist) shifting to the 60-day injured list, Atlanta was able to open up spots for infielder Vaughn Grissom and reliever Kirby Yates (elbow), who were both activated in advance of Wednesday's series finale in Boston. It's the fourth occasion in which Ford has been designated for assignment this season, with the Mariners booting him off their 40-man roster twice and the Giants doing so once. The power-hitting first baseman/designated hitter will likely report to Triple-A Gwinnett if he isn't claimed off waivers.

  • Cubs' Christopher Morel: On bench Wednesday

Morel isn't in the lineup Wednesday against Washington.

Morel started the last two games and went 3-for-8 with a homer, three runs and two RBI. Zach McKinstry will take over at the hot corner and bat sixth Wednesday.

  • Joey Meneses DH | NYM

Nationals' Joey Meneses: Slugs game-winning homer

Meneses went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's win over the Cubs.

His blast off Mark Leiter in the eighth inning proved to be the game-winning hit. Meneses has looked good in his first taste of big-league action, going 6-for-20 (.300) over six games with three homers and five RBI. The 30-year-old rookie will likely move into a full-time role while Nelson Cruz (shoulder) is day-to-day.

  • Franmil Reyes DH | WAS

Cubs' Franmil Reyes: RBI single in team debut

Reyes went 1-for-4 with an RBI in a 6-5 loss Tuesday against Washington.

Reyes recorded his first hit as a Cub when he lined a single to right field with two outs in the seventh to tie the game 4-4. He was replaced with a pinch runner following the hit. The 27-year-old hit fifth in the lineup and served as the designated hitter in his first game for Chicago. He's likely to receive a significant amount of playing time down the stretch as the Cubs hope he can find his way and return to the level of his first four seasons when he produced a .828 OPS and 92 homers.
