  • Kris Bryant RF | COL

Rockies' Kris Bryant: Still out Wednesday

Bryant (back/ribs) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game in Philadelphia.

Bryant has now missed four straight starts as he deals with soreness in his right ribcage and back. Elehuris Montero is at first base, Michael Toglia is in right field and Elias Diaz will be the designated hitter Wednesday.

  • Joey Meneses DH | NYM

Nationals' Joey Meneses: Back in lineup, but losing work

Meneses will start at first base and bat fifth in Wednesday's game against the Dodgers, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Meneses will draw back into the starting nine for the series finale, but he seems to be the odd man out of the lineup of late, at least against right-handed pitching. He hadn't started in any of the previous three matchups versus righties, with Joey Gallo occupying first base and Jesse Winker serving as Washington's designated hitter in each of those contests. The reduction in playing time comes after Meneses has provided lowly .522 OPS though his first 57 plate appearances of the season.

  • Alec Burleson 1B | STL

Cardinals' Alec Burleson: Sits for sixth straight game

Burleson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Athletics.

Burleson opened the season in a strong-side platoon role, but he's lost his grip on a regular spot in the lineup versus right-handed pitching in the wake of Lars Nootbaar's return from the 10-day injured list last week. The 25-year-old will find himself on the bench Wednesday for a sixth consecutive game.

  • Pirates' Andrew McCutchen: Receives rest day

McCutchen is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets.

McCutchen had started each of the previous three contests while going 4-for-12 with a home run, three RBI, three additional runs and a stolen base, but he'll get a breather as the Pirates and Mets wrap up their series with a day game after a night game. Bryan Reynolds will get a day off out of the outfield and serve as the Pirates' designated hitter while McCutchen rests.

  • DJ Stewart RF | PIT

Mets' DJ Stewart: Sits against lefty

Stewart is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

The lefty-hitting Stewart will take a seat for the fourth straight game, with three of his absences from the lineup coming against southpaws. Stewart still looks to be the Mets' preferred option at designated hitter against right-handed pitching while J.D. Martinez's (back) season debut is still at least a week away.

  • J.D. Martinez DH | NYM

Mets' J.D. Martinez: Unlikely to go on road trip

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Tuesday that it's "very unlikely" Martinez (back) will join the team on their upcoming road trip, which begins Friday in Los Angeles and runs through April 24 in San Francisco, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Based on Mendoza's comments, Martinez won't be ready to make his Mets debut until April 26, at the earliest. Martinez injured his back earlier this month while playing for Single-A St. Lucie, with whom he reported to for the start of the season after he wasn't available for spring training due to his late signing. He had been slated to begin swinging a bat Monday and is expected to resume playing in minor-league games later this week.

  • DJ Stewart RF | PIT

Mets' DJ Stewart: On bench Tuesday

Stewart is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Pirates, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Stewart was held out of the lineup the past two games with the Mets facing left-handed starters, and he's sitting again Tuesday with righty Jared Jones pitching for Pittsburgh. Francisco Alvarez will rest his legs as the designated hitter while Omar Narvaez receives a start behind the plate.

  • Kris Bryant RF | COL

Rockies' Kris Bryant: Remains out of lineup

Bryant (back/ribs) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Phillies.

It's the third straight start Bryant has missed after he had to be removed from Saturday's game versus the Blue Jays due to soreness in his right ribcage and back. The Rockies will roll with Charlie Blackmon at designated hitter, Elehuris Montero at first base and Michael Toglia in right field.

  • Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD

Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani: Picks up steal in loss

Ohtani went 1-for-3 with two runs and a stolen base Monday in a loss to the Nationals.

Ohtani extended his on-base streak to 15 games with a first-inning single that led to the Dodgers' first run. The slugger also reached on catcher's interference in the sixth frame, and he subsequently stole second base, reached third on a wild pitch and scored the team's second run on a Will Smith groundout. Ohtani is giving the Dodgers consistent offensive production out of the No. 2 slot in the lineup, slashing .338/.384/.648 with four homers, 10 RBI, 15 runs and three stolen bases through 86 plate appearances.

  • Matt Carpenter DH | STL

Cardinals' Matt Carpenter: Traveling, taking infield practice

Carpenter (oblique) is currently traveling with the Cardinals and took infield practice in Arizona over the weekend, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Sidelined since early April with a right oblique strain, Carpenter seems to be making progress in his recovery, though it's unclear where he stands in his hitting progression. With that, a return timetable is still up in the air for the 14-year veteran. Carpenter appeared in three games -- including a couple starts at DH -- for the Cardinals early on this season, going 3-for-10 with three singles and a run scored.
