Manager Alex Cora said Tuesday that Yoshida's (shoulder) return from the 60-day injured list could be expedited after the Red Sox traded Rafael Devers to the Giants on Sunday, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports. "We're going to meet [Tuesday or Wednesday] to go over a few things. Let's see if we can speed up the process," Cora said, in reference to when Yoshida might make his 2025 debut. "He can swing the bat. Now it's a matter of him getting at-bats and all that. But at the same time, respecting the rehab of the shoulder. So we'll decide that sooner rather than later."

Yoshida served exclusively as a designated hitter for the Red Sox in 2024 and has been operating with no restrictions at the plate since late February, but he's nonetheless remained on the IL all season while he's moved slowly through his throwing program following his Oct. 3 right shoulder labral repair. Because Devers had been serving as a full-time DH prior to being traded, the Red Sox weren't willing to activate Yoshida until he proved that his shoulder presented no issues for him while playing in the corner outfield. However, with Devers now out of the picture, Cora said that the Red Sox are considering bringing Yoshida back from the IL before he's cleared to play defense, with the skipper floating the possibility of using him in a platoon at DH with the right-handed-hitting Rob Refsnyder. Yoshida -- who played catch out to 120 feet Tuesday -- would still be an option in the outfield once he finally completes his throwing program, though the Red Sox likely wouldn't have much of a need for him to play defense. Wilyer Abreu's (oblique) expected return from the 10-day IL this weekend will create a logjam in the outfield that could spill over to the DH spot, but the Red Sox might be able to keep Yoshida's bat in the lineup by handing center fielder Ceddanne Rafaela more starts at second base at the expense of Kristian Campbell and David Hamilton, both of whom have offered little offensive production since the beginning of May.

Rice is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest against the Angels.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone has some lineup juggling to do now that Giancarlo Stanton is back in the fold, and it will be Rice's turn to sit out Tuesday. Rice had started each of the previous six games.

O'Hearn (ankle) will start at first base and bat fifth in Monday's game against the Rays.

O'Hearn missed the previous two contests after injuring his left ankle this past Friday, but he's ready to roll for Monday's series opener. Coby Mayo will retreat to the bench after starting the last two games at first base in O'Hearn's place.

The Yankees activated Stanton (elbows) from the 60-day injured list Monday.

Stanton is set to make his season debut Monday versus the Angels following a long absence while recovering from tennis elbow in both arms. He should be the Yankees' primary designated hitter moving forward, which would leave fewer starts for Ben Rice, Paul Goldschmidt, Jasson Dominguez and Trent Grisham.

Stanton (elbows) will be activated from the 60-day injured list and included in the lineup for Monday's game against the Angels, Andy Martino of SNY.tv reports.

Stanton is finally set to make his season debut after recovering from tendinitis in both elbows. He might not play every day right away after a lengthy layoff, but Stanton is likely to see the bulk of the starts at designated hitter over the long haul. Stanton's arrival could leave fewer at-bats to go around for Ben Rice, Paul Goldschmidt, Jasson Dominguez and Trent Grisham.

After the veteran slugger went 3-for-11 with a double and four RBI in three rehab games with Double-A Somerset, he rejoined the big club Sunday for a workout at Yankee Stadium. Stanton has been on the shelf all season due to a severe case of tendinitis in both elbows, but he's finally on the cusp of his 2025 MLB debut.

Jones went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Sunday's 8-4 loss to the Reds.

Jones, who has become Detroit's primary leadoff option against left-handed pitching, now has two home runs -- both of which have come against southpaws -- this season in 14 at-bats. Over the past three years, the outfielder has a 1.031 OPS against lefties, albeit in a limited sample. Jones may not play much against righties moving forward, which caps his overall fantasy value, but he looks like an emerging weapon against southpaws who can be used in DFS formats in the right matchups.

Diaz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.

Diaz appeared to be in some discomfort after a slide into home plate in Saturday's 8-4 win, but he wasn't removed from the game at any point, and manager Kevin Cash said that the 33-year-old is "totally available" off the bench Sunday, per Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. Diaz's absence thus looks to be little more than a pre-planned rest day after he had started each of the Rays' last seven games. He's been on a heater of late, slashing .408/.473/.673 with three home runs, 10 RBI and nine runs in 12 games dating back to May 31.

O'Hearn is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels, but he said his sore left ankle is feeling better and he expects to be ready to start in Monday's series opener versus the Rays, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

O'Hearn added that he anticipates being available off the bench Sunday, after suffering an ankle injury Friday. Coby Mayo will pick up a second straight start at first base but will move back into a reserve role once O'Hearn is cleared to rejoin the lineup.

Jones is serving as the designated hitter and batting first in Sunday's game against the Reds.

Jones has become the primary leadoff option against lefty pitchers, and he'll start things off Sunday against Wade Miley. The 27-year-old outfielder has 11 at-bats since being called up June 6, though he's played well to this point with six hits and a home run. Jones has some DFS appeal as a bargain option with upside on days when he's in the lineup.
