Rodriguez (elbow) has taken live BP from the left side, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Rodriguez underwent elbow surgery in December and is slated to miss the entirety of the 2024 season. He slashed .220/.284/.328 as a rookie last season.

Wells is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against Cincinnati.

Despite right-hander Graham Ashcraft pitching for the Reds, the lefty-hitting Wells will be held out of the Yankees' lineup. Instead, Jose Trevino will bat ninth and catch.

The Reds designated Wynns for assignment Tuesday.

Wynns was up as protection at catcher for a few days while Tyler Stephenson was away but is no longer needed with the latter back in the fold. He cleared waivers and accepted an outright assignment to Triple-A Louisville last month, and he seems likely to do so again.

The Reds activated Stephenson (personal) from the family medical emergency list Tuesday.

Stephenson was away from the club for a few days following the birth of his child but is back for the start of its series in New York against the Yankees. Austin Wynns was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

Naylor is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the White Sox.

After catching two straight games, Naylor will yield to Austin Hedges behind the dish Tuesday. In his last eight games, Naylor is 11-for-29 (.379) with a home run and five doubles.

Ruiz went 3-for-5 with an RBI in Monday's extra-inning loss to the Mets.

It was the backstop's first three-hit performance since March 30, but his third multi-hit effort in his last five starts. Ruiz is showing signs of life at the plate, and over his last 11 games he's batting .289 (11-for-38) with three doubles.

Campusano (thumb) went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in his first rehab game with Single-A Lake Elsinore on Monday.

Campusano has missed just over a week of action with a thumb injury, so he shouldn't need too many rehab at-bats before being activated. Kyle Higashioka is coming off an eight-homer June, so it's possible Campusano -- who has just a .588 OPS since May 1 -- will play second fiddle at catcher for the Padres upon his activation.

Contreras went 3-for-5 with a solo homer, a double and two runs scored in Monday's loss at Colorado.

The 26-year-old drew the start at designated hitter and reached double-digit homers for the third consecutive season with a solo shot off Austin Gomber. Contreras also collected his team-leading 20th double of the season. Overall, the Milwaukee star is now slashing .296/.355/.451 with 51 RBI and 59 runs scored across 369 plate appearances.

The Reds transferred Stephenson (personal) from the paternity list to the family medical emergency list Monday.

Stephenson had been away for the last three games while on the paternity list. By rule, players can miss 3-to-7 days while on the family medical emergency list, whereas he would have to be activated ahead of Tuesday's game against the Yankees had he remained on the paternity list. Luke Maile and Austin Wynns will handle catching duties for Cincinnati while Stephenson is away.

Kirk will start at catcher and bat eighth in Monday's game against the Astros.

Kirk should be in store for at least two starts in the four-game series with the Astros while top backstop Danny Jansen likely misses the maximum three games after being placed on the paternity list Monday. Even though Jansen remains atop the depth chart, Kirk had been making a case for more playing time by going 4-for-12 with two doubles, two RBI and a run over his last three starts.
