  • Elias Diaz C | KC

Rockies' Elias Diaz: Remains out Wednesday

Diaz (calf) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game in Minnesota.

As expected, Diaz will get another day to rest his left calf injury. The hope is that he will be ready to play Friday in Denver versus the Pirates following the Rockies' off day Thursday, but his availability for the weekend isn't guaranteed. Jacob Stallings will start at catcher Wednesday.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Three hits Tuesday

Moreno went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's win over the Angels.

Both of Moreno's doubles were scorched off the bat at 106 MPH. The second one traveled 407 feet to center and would have gone out in 18 other ballparks. It was the second time this season that he's tallied at least three hits in a game and also his second time with multiple extra-base hits. The 24-year-old backstop now has five extra-base hits this month after tallying just eight over his first 46 games of the year. He's slashing .240/.314/.345 with two homers, 22 RBI, 20 runs and an 18:30 BB:K in 191 plate appearances.

  • Ryan Jeffers C | MIN

Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Not in Wednesday's lineup

Jeffers is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Rockies.

Jeffers started at catcher in Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the Rockies, so he will get a breather for Wednesday's afternoon tilt. Christian Vazquez will be behind the plate for the rubber game of the series.

  • Phillies' Garrett Stubbs: Swipes bag in Tuesday's start

Stubbs went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Red Sox.

The 31-year-old got the start with J.T. Realmuto (knee) headed for an extended absence, and Stubbs took advantage by pilfering his career-high fourth bag of the season. While he's batting just .179 on the year, six of his 10 hits this season have come in his last five starts. Stubbs is expected to work on the strong side of a platoon with Rafael Marchan while Realmuto recovers from knee surgery that could keep him sidelined until the All-Star break.

  • Royals' Freddy Fermin: Homers off bench

Fermin hit a solo home run in Tuesday's 10-1 loss to the Yankees.

Fermin's blast in the eighth inning was the lone bright spot for the Royals in the blowout loss. The catcher has hit safely in his last seven games, going 7-for-20 (.350) with four RBI in that span. He doesn't see a lot of playing time, but with Salvador Perez getting more games at designated hitter or first base, there's been room for Fermin to play more often, especially versus southpaws. For the season, Fermin is slashing .300/.347/.409 with two homers, 13 RBI, 17 runs scored and six doubles over 118 plate appearances.

  • Austin Wells C | NYY

Yankees' Austin Wells: Launches first homer since April

Wells went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run during Tuesday's 10-1 win over the Royals.

Wells extended the Yankees' advantage to 6-0 in the fourth inning after he tagged Brady Singer for a three-run home run. The long ball was Wells' second of the campaign and his first since April 30. Wells has been splitting catching duties with Jose Trevino this season almost 50/50, though Trevino has been swinging the better bat thus far. Wells is slashing .211/.295/.325 with 14 runs and 10 RBI over 132 plate appearances, while Trevino exceeds him with a .264/.316/.388 line with 16 runs and 20 RBI over 134 plate appearances.

  • Padres' Kyle Higashioka: Delivers walk-off homer

Higashioka went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Athletics.

Higashioka came up clutch, taking Scott Alexander deep for a walk-off homer in the ninth inning. This was Higashioka's fourth homer in his last five games, all of which have been of the solo variety. The catcher is up to a .188/.212/.453 slash line with five long balls, seven RBI and seven runs scored across 66 plate appearances. He could continue to challenge Luis Campusano for playing time, but Higashioka is more likely to remain in a backup role.

  • Korey Lee C | CHW

White Sox's Korey Lee: Three-hit effort Tuesday

Lee went 3-for-4 with a stolen base in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Mariners.

Lee sat out games Saturday and Sunday after beginning June 2-for-22, but he's responded well since the White Sox landed in Seattle. He's 4-for-8 over the first two games of the series versus the Mariners. Lee is up to a .258/.291/.391 slash line with five steals, five home runs, 16 RBI and 14 runs scored across 158 plate appearances.

  • Padres' Luis Campusano: Idle Tuesday

Campusano isn't in the Padres' lineup Tuesday versus the Athletics, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Campusano will sit down Tuesday after going 5-for-12 with three RBI and a run scored during his last three contests. Kyle Higashioka will fill in behind the dish and bat ninth.

  • Yainer Diaz C | HOU

    Astros' Yainer Diaz: Sitting Tuesday

Diaz (finger) isn't in the Astros' lineup Tuesday versus the Giants.

X-ray and MRI results on Diaz's right index finger came back negative before Tuesday's game, but the Astros will opt to hold him out of action rather than using him as their designated hitter. Victor Caratini, who figures to start regularly until Diaz is cleared to catch again, will get the nod behind the plate and bat ninth.
