  • Braves' Travis d'Arnaud: Begins baseball activities

    D'Arnaud (concussion) hit in the batting cage Friday, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

    D'Arnaud is back to doing baseball activities 11 days after being placed on the 7-day concussion injured list. If all goes well, the 34-year-old could feasibly return to Atlanta's active roster sometime early next week. He was off to an 11-for-33 start (.333) prior to the injury and had been starting pretty much every day between DH and catcher.

  • Pirates' Endy Rodriguez: Placed on minor-league IL

    Rodriguez (forearm) was placed on the 7-day injured list Friday at Triple-A Indianapolis, Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com reports.

    Rodriguez connected for his third home run of the season Thursday against Memphis, but he later departed that game after injuring his right arm on a throw. There's no exact diagnosis or return date yet for the highly touted 22-year-old catcher. He's scheduled to visit with the Pirates' medical staff this weekend.

  • Astros' Martin Maldonado: Day off Friday

    Maldonado isn't in the Astros' lineup for Friday's game against Atlanta.

    Maldonado holds just a .258 OPS in his last four games, so he will get a day off Friday. Yainer Diaz will take over behind the plate and bat eighth.

    Tigers' Eric Haase: Out of lineup Friday

    Haase isn't starting Friday against the Orioles.

    Haase has been on a much-needed hot streak lately, slashing .467/.500/.533 in 16 plate appearances over the last seven days. He'll take a seat Friday, allowing Jake Rogers to start behind the dish and bat ninth.

    Stallings isn't starting Friday against the Guardians, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

    Stallings has recorded a hit in each of his last two games, but still holds just a .515 OPS on the year. Nick Fortes will start behind the dish in his place and bat eighth.

    Kirk is absent from the Blue Jays' lineup for Friday's game against the Yankees, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.

    Danny Jansen will catch Yusei Kikuchi while Vladimir Guerrero is in the designated hitter spot and Brandon Belt plays first base. Kirk hasn't done much at the plate in the early going with a .689 OPS.
