Yan Gomes C | CHC
Cubs' Yan Gomes: Tallies three hits Monday
Gomes went 3-for-4 with three RBI in a 5-4 win against the Rockies on Monday.
All three of Gomes' hits were singles, but he was plenty productive. The backstop singled home a run in the sixth inning, then recorded a two-run knock in the ninth that turned a one-run Cubs deficit into a one-run lead. Gomes has three multi-hit efforts through 10 contests in September and is slashing .323/.344/.387 with six RBI so far this month.

Willson Contreras C | BOS
Cardinals' Willson Contreras: Three hits, two RBI in loss
Contreras went 3-for-4 with two RBI in Monday's 11-5 loss to the Orioles.
Contreras has multiple hits in five of his last nine games, going 13-for-35 (.371) with six home runs and 15 RBI in that span. It's a strong push for the catcher, who has struggled to adjust in his first year with the Cardinals. He's at a .261/.353/.461 slash line with 19 homers, 66 RBI, 53 runs scored, six stolen bases and 26 doubles over 120 contests, and he appears set to close out the season strong.

Blake Sabol C | BOS
Giants' Blake Sabol: Key part of winning rally
Sabol went 1-for-2 with one RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Monday's 5-4 extra-inning win over the Guardians.
Sabol provided a game-tying RBI single in the 10th inning, then stole second and scored on LaMonte Wade's single for the winning run. The steal was Sabol's third of the season and his first since April 26. The 25-year-old has gone just 2-for-12 (.167) in September, but both of his hits this month have proven valuable. For the season, he's slashing .243/.304/.399 with 12 home runs, 41 RBI, 35 runs scored and nine doubles across his first 100 major-league contests.

Jacob Stallings C | BAL
Marlins' Jacob Stallings: On bench Monday
Stallings is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Brewers, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Stallings will take a seat for the second straight game, giving way to Nick Fortes behind the plate. Despite sitting in favor of Fortes in consecutive starts, Stallings has the edge in playing time so far in September, making six starts to Fortes' four.

Riley Adams C | WAS
Nationals' Riley Adams: Gets hand surgery
Nationals manager Dave Martinez said Monday that Adams underwent successful surgery to repair the fractured hamate bone in his left wrist, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.
Adams is expected to be fully healed from the procedure ahead of spring training in February. Drew Millas will serve as the top backup to Keibert Ruiz for the rest of the season while Adams is on the shelf. Adams finishes his second full season in Washington with a .273/.331/.476 slash line to go with four home runs, 21 RBI and eight runs across 158 plate appearances over 44 games.

Gary Sanchez C | MIL
Padres' Gary Sanchez: Moves to 60-day IL
The Padres transferred Sanchez (wrist) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday.
Sanchez had already been ruled out for the season after fracturing his right wrist last week, so his move to the 60-day IL was merely procedural. The transaction opens up a spot on the 40-man roster for right-handed reliever Nick Hernandez, whose contract was selected from Triple-A El Paso. Sanchez is expected to avoid surgery and should be fully cleared ahead of spring training.

Francisco Alvarez C | NYM
Mets' Francisco Alvarez: Not in Monday's lineup
Alvarez (hand) is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Diamondbacks, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Alvarez had to be removed from Sunday's win over the Twins after being hit on the hand by a pitch. X-rays came back negative and he's considered day-to-day, but the young catcher will miss at least one start. Omar Narvaez is behind the dish Monday, though manager Buck Showalter said that while Alvarez is still sore, the 21-year-old could be available in a pinch-hitting capacity, per Laura Albanese of Newsday.

Diamondbacks' Jose Herrera: Recalled from Triple-A
Herrera was recalled from Triple-A Reno on Monday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Andrew Knizner C | SEA
Cardinals' Andrew Knizner: Tallies second steal
Knizner went 1-for-3 with one RBI and a stolen base in Sunday's 7-1 loss to the Reds.
Knizner's RBI single in the fourth inning was the only hit for the Cardinals in the contest. The catcher had gone 0-for-17 across his previous five games, dating back to Aug. 25. He's slashing .242/.287/.442 with 10 home runs, 30 RBI, 27 runs scored and two steals over 203 plate appearances. Knizner's playing time is likely to remain limited as he works in a backup role to Willson Contreras.
