The Reds are having Stephenson fitted for a thumb guard that will be inserted inside a catcher's mitt, MLB.com reports.

Stephenson sustained a fractured left thumb earlier this month and was placed on the injured list Aug. 20 (retroactive to Aug. 17). That he's being fitted for a guard indicates the club feels Stephenson can still play this season; however, Cincinnati will proceed with caution and let the fracture heal before speculating on a timeframe for his return.

Moreno (finger) went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in Friday's 6-5 extra-innings win over the Reds.

Moreno had been out since mid-June with a fractured finger. He delivered Arizona's only multi-hit effort in his contest as well as the team's biggest hit when he took Zack Littell deep in the third inning. Moreno will likely regain his spot as the Diamondbacks' top catcher, though it wouldn't be surprising to see him eased back into action after a long layoff. He's posted a .275/.328/.433 slash line with six homers, 23 RBI, 30 runs scored and a stolen base over 54 contests this season.

Contreras went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a double, two RBI and a walk in Friday's 5-4 win over the Giants.

The 27-year-old delivered the decisive blow in the ninth inning, launching his 14th homer of the season and first career walk-off, with two outs off Randy Rodriguez. Contreras also came through earlier in the game with an RBI double in the seventh. The catcher continues to be one of Milwaukee's most consistent offensive performers, as he is slashing .258/.357/.398 with 63 RBI, 71 runs scored and six stolen bases in 123 games this season.

Torrens is absent from the lineup for Friday's game in Atlanta.

After starting the first two games at catcher following the injury to Francisco Alvarez (thumb), Torrens has now been on the bench for two straight contests in favor of Hayden Senger. It's possible the two could split catching duties fairly evenly while Alvarez is out.

Pages is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Rays.

After starting at catcher in the series opener Thursday, Pages will begin Friday's festivities on the bench. Yohel Pozo will be behind the dish and bat eighth for the Cardinals.

Goodman is not in the lineup for Friday's contest in Pittsburgh.

Goodman was initially slated for a day off Thursday versus the Dodgers before being a late addition to the lineup. He'll now receive that breather in the first game of the Rockies' road trip, yielding catching duties to Braxton Fulford.

Bart is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Rockies.

Bart will yield to Henry Davis behind the dish for the third time in four games. Bart had started three of the previous four contests. He's slashing .248/.353/.321 in 272 plate appearances this season.

The Diamondbacks activated Moreno (finger) from the 60-day injured list Friday, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

Moreno wound up being sidelined for more than two months with a fractured finger, but he's ready to roll after going 8-for-20 with a pair of home runs in six rehab contests with Triple-A Reno. The 25-year-old will resume his role as Arizona's primary catcher.

The Diamondbacks designated Herrera for assignment Friday, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

The team needed to free up spots on its 26-man and 40-man rosters for the return of Gabriel Moreno (finger), and Herrera is the odd man out. Herrera has managed just a .200/.280/.259 batting line across parts of four seasons at the major-league level, but with teams always looking for catching depth, it's possible he draws interest on waivers.

The Mets signed Sanchez to a minor-league contract Friday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

Sanchez elected free agency after being designated for assignment by the Red Sox on Monday. He'll latch on with the Mets and provide some additional catching depth. The 28-year-old has also spent time with the Blue Jays this season, and he slashed .279/.347/.419 in 199 plate appearances with their Triple-A affiliate in Buffalo. Sanchez has appeared in just nine MLB games in 2025.
