Gabriel Moreno C | ARI
Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Expected back this week
Moreno (thumb) is expected to be activated ahead of a three-game series against the Dodgers beginning Tuesday, Arizona Sports reports.
The Diamondbacks designated Tucker Barnhart on Sunday, which indicates Moreno should be ready to go Tuesday after catching in a rehab game at the Arizona Complex League over the weekend. With Barnhart designated, the Diamondbacks will roll with Jose Herrera as the backup catcher.

Elias Diaz C | KC
Rockies' Elias Diaz: Two hits in return
Diaz went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored Sunday against the White Sox.
Diaz was activated from the injured list after three weeks and returned to serve as the designated hitter while hitting fifth. He collected a hit in his first plate appearance, showing no signs of rust. Diaz's return will likely push Jacob Stallings into a backup role and could end consistent playing time for Hunter Goodman.

Pedro Pages C | STL
Cardinals' Pedro Pages: Raps out three hits
Pages went 3-for-4 with a run scored in Sunday's 2-0 win over the Reds.
Pages' playing time predictably took a nosedive when Willson Contreras returned from a forearm injury Monday. Pages went 12-for-50 (.240) in June, and if he continues to hit well in a backup role, he may stay on the major-league roster once Ivan Herrera (back) returns from the injured list. Pages is slashing .191/.260/.324 with two home runs, one stolen base, nine RBI and nine runs scored over 77 plate appearances.

Patrick Bailey C | SF
Giants' Patrick Bailey: Drives in three runs
Bailey went 2-for-5 with two doubles, three RBI and a run scored in Sunday's win over the Dodgers.
Bailey did most of his damage during the Giants' five-run fourth inning, knocking a two-run double and coming around to score. He later capped off his day with an RBI double in the eighth. He'd been stuck in a 4-for-25 (.160) slump over his previous eight games since his last multi-hit effort June 20. Bailey is now slashing .284/.353/.433 with 17 extra-base hits and 28 RBI through 59 contests.

Tucker Barnhart C | TEX
Diamondbacks' Tucker Barnhart: Designated for assignment
Barnhart was designated for assignment by the Diamondbacks on Sunday, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.
Barnhart will now be placed on waivers and the other 29 teams in the league will have an opportunity to claim him. The catcher has produced a .173 average with two doubles, six RBI, 13 runs scored and a stolen base over 81 at-bats in 31 games with Arizona this season. With Barnhart's disappointing output at the plate this year, he'll be the odd man out with Gabriel Moreno (thumb) expected to be activated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday. Jose Herrera will operate as the primary backup behind Moreno at catcher with the Diamondbacks.

Jacob Stallings C | BAL
Rockies' Jacob Stallings: On bench, set to lose playing time
Stallings is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.
Stallings had started at catcher in each of the past three games, but he should be headed for a stark downturn in playing time after the Rockies reinstated Elias Diaz (calf) from the 10-day injured list Sunday. Diaz will be eased back into the lineup Sunday as the Rockies' designated hitter while Hunter Goodman handles catching duties, but Diaz should see the bulk of the reps behind the dish moving forward.
-
Keibert Ruiz C | WAS
Nationals' Keibert Ruiz: Out of Sunday's lineup
Ruiz is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.
Ruiz has a .639 OPS in his past 10 games and will head to the bench for the series finale in Tampa Bay. Drew Millas will step in behind the plate to catch for lefty Patrick Corbin.
-
Garrett Stubbs C | PHI
Phillies' Garrett Stubbs: Resting Sunday
Stubbs is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins.
Stubbs will get a breather for the series finale after he had started at catcher in both of the previous two contests. Rafael Marchan gets a turn behind the dish Sunday.
-
Francisco Alvarez C | NYM
Mets' Francisco Alvarez: Receiving Sunday off
Alvarez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Astros.
It's a well-deserved day off for Alvarez, who posted a .471/.558/.882 slash line with five doubles and three homers while starting the past 17 games. Luis Torrens will step in behind the plate to catch for righty Luis Severino on Sunday.
