  • Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Resting Wednesday

Stephenson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.

He'll get a breather for Wednesday's afternoon game after starting behind the plate both of the past two days while going 4-for-9 with two doubles and three runs. Luke Maile will get the starting nod behind the plate in the series finale.

  • Pirates' Yasmani Grandal: Getting rest day

Grandal is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers.

Grandal will take a seat for the day game after he started behind the plate in both of the previous two nights, going 1-for-7 with a home run. Joey Bart will replace Grandal on Wednesday as the Pirates' starting catcher.

  • Marlins' Christian Bethancourt: Sitting again Wednesday

Bethancourt is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Tigers.

Bethancourt will sit for the second day in a row while Nick Fortes receives another turn behind the plate. Neither Bethancourt (.349 OPS) nor Fortes (.336 OPS) has been productive at the plate this season and both typically bat near the bottom of the order when included in the lineup, making it difficult to extract any fantasy value from the Marlins' catching situation.

  • Elias Diaz C | SD

Rockies' Elias Diaz: Sitting Wednesday with sore hand

Diaz exited Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Padres with left hand soreness and will be held out of the lineup for Wednesday's series finale, MLB.com reports. He struck out in his lone plate appearance on the day.

Diaz exited in the third inning with recurring hand soreness. He's not expected to miss additional time beyond Wednesday's contest, but Jacob Stallings should be behind the dish for Colorado's series finale Wednesday.

  • C.J. Stubbs C | WAS

Nationals' C.J. Stubbs: Inks minors deal with Nationals

The Nationals signed Stubbs to a minor-league contract Tuesday.

Stubbs had been in the Astros system but was released after slashing just .121/.244/.212 over 21 contests between the Double- and Triple-A levels. The 27-year-old will give the Nats some catching depth.

  • Giants' Patrick Bailey: Back on concussion IL

The Giants placed Bailey on the 7-day concussion injured list Tuesday.

Bailey missed the Giants' last two games due to an illness, and he met with a team doctor Monday to determine whether or not his illness was related to the concussion he suffered earlier in May. He'll now return to the 7-day IL and will be eligible to return to action Sunday, though the Giants will likely be more cautious this time around before activating him. Blake Sabol will take over as San Francisco's primary catcher while Bailey is out, and Marco Luciano will come up from Triple-A Sacramento to fill the open roster spot.

  • Ivan Herrera DH | STL

Cardinals' Ivan Herrera: On bench Tuesday

Herrera is not in the lineup Tuesday versus the Angels.

Since last taking a seat Thursday, Herrera has slashed .467/.556/.467 in a four-game span. In his absence, Pedro Pages has the start at catcher and will bat eighth.

  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Expected back Wednesday

Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Tuesday that he expects Realmuto (knee) to return to the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Mets, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Realmuto missed a third straight start Tuesday because of right knee soreness. However, he got in a productive workout pregame, and as long as he doesn't have any sort of setback, it appears he'll be back in there for Wednesday's tilt in Philadelphia.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Not in Tuesday's lineup

Moreno is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Reds.

Moreno finally clubbed his first home run of the season in Monday's win over Cincinnati, but he'll get a breather a day later. Tucker Barnhart will do the catching for Slade Cecconi.

  • Keibert Ruiz C | WAS

Nationals' Keibert Ruiz: Sitting out first game

Ruiz is absent from the lineup for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader versus the White Sox.

Riley Adams will do the catching for Trevor Williams. Ruiz will likely be back in there for the nightcap, when Mitchell Parker will be on the mound for the Nationals.
