The Nationals have reinstated Wilson Ramos from the paternity list and optioned fellow catcher Sandy Leon back to Triple-A Syracuse.

Giants catcher Hector Sanchez went 1 for 3 with an RBI in his rehab debut with Triple-A Fresno Tuesday.

Sanchez has been sidelined since July 25 while recovering from a concussion. He could be in line for a few more Triple-A games before rejoining the team.

The Nationals recalled catcher Sandy Leon from Triple-A Syracuse Tuesday, after Wilson Ramos was placed on the paternity leave list.  

Leon appeared in 18 games earlier in the season with Ramos on the disabled list. He hit .169/.234/.237 in 59 at-bats, and is likely to spend just a few days with the team this time around. 

Giants catcher Hector Sanchez (concussion) is expected to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Fresno Tuesday, per MLB.com. Sanchez has increased levels of baseball activities, but manager Bruce Bochy said, "He needs to go over there and get in playing shape."

Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal returned to the starting lineup Sunday against the Braves after missing three straight starts due to a knee injury. Grandal, however, started at first base Sunday.

A right knee ailment that has kept Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal from playing since Wednesday has him out again Saturday night in Atlanta.

Grandal has been diagnosed with fluid buildup in the knee.

Giants catcher Hector Sanchez continues to make progress from a concussion suffered last weekend, and told the San Francisco Chronicle Friday he is feeling much better after some time off.

Sanchez could be cleared to begin taking part in baseball activities, including batting practice Friday. 

Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal was unable to play Thursday against the Cardinals because of fluid buildup in his right knee, U-T San Diego reports. He is expected to be "fine" moving forward, according to manager Bud Black.

Grandal has appeared in 82 of 108 games this season for San Diego. He is hitting .206 with nine homers and 24 RBI in 228 at-bats.

Catcher Devin Mesoraco did hit part in vain to try to lead the Reds to victory Wednesday against visiting Arizona.

Mesoraco blasted a three-run homer in the ninth inning off Diamondbacks closer Addison Reed to cut the deficit to 5-4. He had already singled in improving his stat line to .295/.367/.589. His 18 home runs leads all major league catchers.
