Moises Ballesteros DH | CHC
Cubs' Moises Ballesteros: Dominating at Triple-A
Ballesteros is slashing .381/.437/.566 with four home runs, three steals and a 10.3 percent strikeout rate in 28 games for Triple-A Iowa.
Among qualified Triple-A hitters under 25, Ballesteros ranks second in wRC+ (164), behind just Arizona's Jordan Lawlar and ahead of Boston's Roman Anthony. Additionally, Ballesteros has the eighth lowest strikeout rate and 11th best slugging percentage among qualified Triple-A hitters. The 5-foot-8, 195-pound catcher faces questions about his defense, but his bat looks like it might play even if he slides to designated hitter. He is not yet on the 40-man roster, but he could get the call any day based on his early season dominance.

Agustin Ramirez C | MIA
Marlins' Agustin Ramirez: Slugs homer off bench
Ramirez went 1-for-2 with a three-run home run in Monday's loss to the Dodgers.
The rookie backstop began the night on the bench while Nick Fortes got the start behind the plate, but Ramirez pinch hit for Graham Pauley in the sixth inning and remained in the game, taking Yoendrys Gomez deep in the eighth. Ramirez's playing time could take a hit while the Marlins juggle three catchers, including Rule 5 pick Liam Hicks, but his development should remain the club's top priority. Through his first 12 big-league contests, Ramirez is slashing .244/.277/.622 with five doubles and four homers among his 11 hits.

Jose Trevino C | CIN
Reds' Jose Trevino: Back on bench Monday
Trevino is out of the lineup for Monday's game against Atlanta.
Trevino had started behind the plate in three of his last four games, but he'll likely move into more of a part-time role moving forward after Tyler Stephenson returned from the injured list Friday. The Reds will have the luxury of using Stephenson at designated hitter on occasions while all of Austin Hays (hamstring), Christian Encarnacion-Strand (back) and Jeimer Candelario (back) are on the shelf, so at least in the short term, Trevino should still play more frequently than most No. 2 catchers.

Agustin Ramirez C | MIA
Marlins' Agustin Ramirez: Getting day off Monday
Ramirez is absent from the lineup for Monday's contest versus the Dodgers.
Ramirez had been in the lineup for each of the previous nine tilts but will get a breather in Monday's series opener. Three of his last four starts have come at designated hitter, and he could be used as more of a DH moving forward with the Marlins carrying two other catchers on the roster in Liam Hicks and Nick Fortes. Fortes is behind the dish for Monday's game, while Connor Norby is in the DH slot.

Joe Mack C | MIA
Marlins' Joe Mack: Looking good at Triple-A
Mack sports a .270/.372/.486 slash line with two doubles and two homers in 10 games since his promotion to Triple-A Jacksonville.
The 22-year-old catching prospect began the season at Double-A Pensacola to get everyday playing time while Agustin Ramirez handled duties behind the plate at Jacksonville, but Ramirez's promotion to the majors allowed Mack to rise a level as well. The 31st overall pick in the 2021 First-Year Player Draft is also drawing good grades for his defense, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. "He's getting off great throws", catching coach Joe Singley said Sunday. "Defensively he's great, and he's doing a great job working with the pitching staff and the coaching staff [in Jacksonville]." Having Ramirez ahead of him in the pipeline blocks his path, not to mention the presence of Nick Fortes and Liam Hicks on the big-league roster, but Mack could be ready to push for a spot with the Marlins in spring training next year.
-
Elias Diaz C | SD
Padres' Elias Diaz: Goes deep in victory
Diaz went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 4-0 victory versus the Pirates.
Diaz accounted for San Diego's second run with a solo blast to left field in the second inning. The veteran catcher has gone deep in each of his past two starts after hitting just one homer across his first 20 games of the campaign. Diaz has played slightly more than fellow backstop Martin Maldonado this year and is slashing .226/.314/.387 through 71 plate appearances.
-
Patrick Bailey C | SF
Giants' Patrick Bailey: Scores twice, doubles in win
Bailey went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a double during Sunday's 9-3 win over the Rockies.
Bailey singled in the fifth before coming around to score. He later cracked a double into left field during the seventh inning and crossed home again on a bases-loaded walk. The 25-year-old catcher delivered his first multi-hit game since April 9, marking his third such performance of the 2025 campaign. Bailey is now slashing .176/.224/.264 with nine RBI, nine runs scored, six doubles, a triple and a 6:33 BB:K across 98 plate appearances.

Tyler Stephenson C | CIN
Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Homers in loss
Stephenson started at designated hitter and went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Nationals.
Stephenson finished off a productive opening series after missing the first five weeks of the season with an oblique injury. He had a pair of doubles and two RBI in his season debut Friday before whacking his first homer Sunday. He's operated as the designated hitter in two of his first three games back off the IL.

Sean Murphy C | ATL
Braves' Sean Murphy: Stepping out of lineup
Murphy is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.
It's likely a standard rest day for Murphy after he went 0-for-9 with three strikeouts across the first two games of the series versus Los Angeles. Drake Baldwin will take over behind the plate to catch for Bryce Elder on Sunday.
-
Will Smith C | LAD
Dodgers' Will Smith: Receiving break Sunday
Smith is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
Smith went 3-for-8 with a double, two RBI and a run in the first two games of the series but will take a seat for the finale. Austin Barnes will step in behind the plate to catch for righty Dustin May.
