  • Danny Jansen C | TEX

Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: On bench Wednesday

Jansen is not starting Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.

Jansen receives a day off after consecutive games in which he went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI. The catcher will be available off the bench while Reese McGuire starts behind the dish Wednesday.

  • Mitch Garver C | SEA

Twins' Mitch Garver: Remains out Wednesday

Garver (knee) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox.

Ben Rortvedt will pick up a second straight start behind the plate while Garver remains sidelined with a right knee contusion. The Twins are optimistic that Garver will avoid a stint on the 10-day injured list, so he should be considered day-to-day heading into Thursday's doubleheader with the Angels.

  • White Sox's Yasmani Grandal: Not starting Wednesday

Grandal isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Twins.

Grandal went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, two walks and a strikeout in Tuesday's loss to Minnesota. Zack Collins will start behind the plate and bat seventh.

  • Max Stassi C | SF

Angels' Max Stassi: Still not ready to return

Stassi (concussion) reported feeling much better Sunday but remains without an exact target date for a return, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Stassi appears to be inching closer to a return, but manager Joe Maddon noted the unpredictable nature of concussions when explaining why his activation date remains unclear. The 30-year-old backstop has not played since May 4.

  • White Sox's Yasmani Grandal: Launches fifth homer

Grandal went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a pair of walks during Tuesday's loss to the Twins.

Grandal left the yard against Bailey Ober in the third inning to add another pair of runs to Chicago's lead. While the 32-year-old backstop now has five long balls to his name this season, his batting line of .132/.387/.316 leaves much to be desired. That said, his extremely unlucky .125 BABIP and outstanding 35:28 BB:K portend better times ahead.

  • Gary Sanchez DH | MIL

Yankees' Gary Sanchez: Leaves with hamstring cramps

Sanchez was removed from Tuesday's game against the Rangers with left hamstring cramps.

The 28-year-old went 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run before being replaced behind the plate for the bottom of the sixth inning. It appears to be a minor injury, though that doesn't necessarily mean Sanchez will be back in the lineup Wednesday.

  • Mitch Garver C | SEA

Twins' Mitch Garver: Not playing Tuesday

Garver (knee) is not starting Tuesday against the White Sox but is unlikely to go on the injured list, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

A right knee contusion took Garver out of Monday's blowout loss, but it appears to be nothing more than a minor injury for the Minnesota catcher. Garver has struggled with just eight hits and four RBI since the start of May.

  • Jose Trevino C | CIN

Rangers' Jose Trevino: On bench Tuesday

Trevino is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Yankees.

Trevino receives the day off after going 1-for-3 with an RBI on Monday against the Yankees. Jonah Heim gets the start at catcher and will bat ninth.

  • Rays' Francisco Mejia: Heads to bench

Mejia will sit Tuesday against the Orioles, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Mejia returned from an intercostal strain Sunday and started right away, but he won't be in the lineup on an everyday basis. He and Mike Zunino split time behind the plate fairly evenly prior to Mejia's injury and will continue to do so going forward.

  • Tom Murphy C | SF

Mariners' Tom Murphy: Launches fourth homer

Murphy went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in a loss to the Tigers on Monday.

The veteran backstop was responsible for the Mariners' only run of the night in a surprisingly poor offensive effort against a lowly Detroit squad. His long ball represents one of the few bright spots for Murphy in May, as he's hitting just .120 (3-for-25) across eight games this month.
