Reese McGuire C | CHW
Red Sox's Reese McGuire: Homers in return
McGuire went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Tuesday's 6-4 win over the Mariners.
McGuire missed about six weeks with an oblique injury. He had no trouble getting the ball in the air in his return, popping a solo shot and a sacrifice fly to contribute to the offense. The catcher is slashing a decent .269/.310/.380 with one homer, 13 RBI, 12 runs scored and nine doubles through 41 contests this season. He's likely to remain behind Connor Wong on the depth chart going forward.

Mitch Garver DH | SEA
Rangers' Mitch Garver: Goes deep in victory
Garver went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 2-0 win over the White Sox.
Garver got the scoring started in the fifth inning, smashing a solo shot off Jesse Scholtens to give Texas the lead. The 32-year-old has started each of the last seven games for the Rangers, going 6-for-18 with two homers, four RBI and four runs scored during that span. Garver should continue to see regular playing time with Jonah Heim on the injured list.

Jose Trevino C | CIN
Yankees' Jose Trevino: Shifts to 60-day IL
The Yankees transferred Trevino (wrist) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Tuesday.
The transaction helps clear room on the 40-man roster for the Yankees' two pickups ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline, right-handed pitchers Keynan Middleton and Spencer Howard. Trevino has already been ruled out for the season after undergoing surgery last week to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist.

Connor Wong C | BOS
Red Sox's Connor Wong: Heads to bench Tuesday
Wong is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mariners.
Wong will get a breather for the second game of the series after he caught all eight innings of Monday's 6-2 loss while going 1-for-4 with a double and a run. Reese McGuire (oblique) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday and will fill in for Wong behind the plate.

Reese McGuire C | CHW
Red Sox's Reese McGuire: Activated, starting Tuesday
The Red Sox activated McGuire (oblique) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports. He'll start at catcher and bat eighth in Boston's game in Seattle.
Boston waited until shortly after the trade deadline passed to make McGuire's activation official, clearing a spot for him on the roster by designating fellow catcher Jorge Alfaro for assignment. Though he'll immediately re-enter the starting nine in his return to the big club, McGuire is expected to serve as the No. 2 option behind the dish while Connor Wong retains top slotting on the depth chart.

Bo Naylor C | CLE
Guardians' Bo Naylor: Gets Tuesday off
Naylor is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Astros.
Cam Gallagher will handle catching duties in the second game of the series after Naylor was behind the dish for four of the past five games. Naylor went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and an RBI in Monday's 7-3 loss to Houston.

Alex Jackson C | MIN
Rays' Alex Jackson: Dealt to Tampa Bay
Jackson was traded from the Brewers to the Rays on Tuesday in exchange for Evan McKendry, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
A 27-year-old catcher who has settled in as an emergency option, at least while with the Brewers, Jackson has been at Triple-A Nashville all season and is slashing .286/.360/.554 with 12 home runs in 45 games. At this point, Jackson doesn't look to be much more than a Quad-A hitter who's capable of defending his position.

Austin Hedges C | CLE
Rangers' Austin Hedges: Dealt to Texas
The Pirates traded Hedges to the Rangers on Tuesday in exchange for international bonus pool money, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Hedges had limped to a .180/.237/.230 slash line across 186 plate appearances with the Pirates. He'll presumably fill in as a depth piece at catcher behind Mitch Garver until Jonah Heim (wrist) returns from the injured list.
-
Christian Vazquez C | HOU
Twins' Christian Vazquez: Not in Tuesday's lineup
Vazquez is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game at St. Louis, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.
Vazquez started the past two games but will take a seat for Tuesday's series opener. Ryan Jeffers will step in behind the plate to catch for righty Pablo Lopez.

Reese McGuire C | CHW
Red Sox's Reese McGuire: Set to return for Seattle series
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Monday that McGuire will be activated from the 10-day injured list at some point during the team's series in Seattle to begin the week, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.
McGuire made the trip with the Red Sox to Seattle after he spent the past weekend at Triple-A Worcester, with whom he went 2-for-10 with a double and a walk during his three-game rehab assignment. Cora indicated everything went well for McGuire on the rehab assignment, but the Red Sox's decision not to activate him Monday may have been designed to give the team as much roster flexibility as possible leading into Tuesday's deadline. Assuming McGuire is reinstated Tuesday or Wednesday, he'll unseat Jorge Alfaro as the top backup to No. 1 catcher Connor Wong.
