The Guardians reinstated Hedges (concussion) from the 7-day injured list Friday.

Hedges landed on the injured list last Friday after getting hit by the backswing of Jazz Chisholm, but he will now rejoin the active roster following a minimum-length stay on the IL. The 32-year-old backstop is slashing just .113/.217/.283 through 61 plate appearances this season and will continue to serve as Bo Naylor's backup.

Caratini is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Twins, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Caratini will get the night off Friday after making three consecutive starts -- two at DH and one at catcher. In his absence, Yainer Diaz will catch and Jose Altuve will DH.

Rodriguez is slashing .347/.438/.438 with one home run, nine steals and a 14.8 percent strikeout rate in 46 games for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Rodriguez, 23, doesn't have big power, but he has a rare combination of a strong hit tool and notable speed for a surefire catching prospect. He is on the 40-man roster, so if Austin Wells were to get injured, Rodriguez could find himself splitting time with J.C. Escarra behind the dish.

Ford is slashing .313/.427/.490 with eight home runs, three steals and a 17.2 percent strikeout rate in 50 games for Triple-A Tacoma.

The 5-foot-10 catcher has only attempted five steals after swiping 35 bases in 116 games at Double-A a year ago, but otherwise he's having his best season to date. If the Mariners want to be buyers at the deadline, Ford could be on the move, but as things stand he's blocked by Cal Raleigh in Seattle and is not yet on the 40-man roster.

Dingler went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Orioles.

Dingler's solo shot and a three-run home run from Parker Meadows both came in the fourth inning, giving Detroit all the offense it would need in the victory. Dingler is now up to seven long balls for the year after coming into 2025 with just one career MLB home run. The catcher is enjoying a breakout campaign with a .283 batting average and .768 OPS through 53 games, and he's squarely moved past Jake Rogers as the team's top option behind the plate.

Orioles interim manager Tony Mansolino said Thursday that Sanchez (wrist) has a chance to be activated before the conclusion of the team's homestand Sunday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Sanchez is 8-for-20 with three home runs in six rehab games with Triple-A Norfolk and is coming along more quickly than expected. He's been shelved since late April due to right wrist inflammation but looks to have a good shot to return for this weekend's series against the Angels.

The Guardians optioned Nunez to Triple-A Columbus on Thursday.

The Guardians haven't announced a corresponding move, but sending Nunez down suggests Austin Hedges (concussion) will be ready to return when first eligible Friday. Nunez drew two starts and went 2-for-7 at the plate during his brief time with the big club.

Basallo is slashing .244/.360/.578 with 13 home runs, a 14.9 percent walk rate and a 24.8 percent strikeout rate in 40 games for Triple-A Norfolk.

Basallo is the youngest hitter at Triple-A, as he doesn't turn 21 until August, yet he is one of the best power hitters at the level. Among Triple-A hitters with at least 150 plate appearances, Basallo's .333 ISO ranks second behind 34-year-old Carlos Perez. He isn't on the 40-man roster yet, but Basallo appears ready for the next level, at least offensively.

Heim is not in the lineup for Thursday's game in Minnesota.

Heim went 2-for-3 with a run scored while catching eight innings of Wednesday night's 6-2 loss, so he will receive a breather for Thursday's matinee. Kyle Higashioka will be behind the dish and bat ninth for the Rangers.

Perez went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 6-3 defeat to the Yankees.

The veteran slugging backstop has struggled at the plate for most of the year -- he has a .638 OPS in 2025 -- but he's gotten back on track recently. Across his last 17 games (74 plate appearances), Perez is slashing .286/.324/.500 with four homers, three doubles and 12 RBI. Perez has played 64 of Kansas City's 68 games this year while bouncing around at catcher, first base and designated hitter, so he remains locked into an everyday role.
