Smith went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, two additional runs scored and a stolen base in Friday's 5-4 win over the Phillies.

Getting the start at third base while Kazuma Okamoto covered first for Vladimir Guerrero (hamstring), Smith collected his first hits in four games as a member of the Blue Jays, including an eighth-inning long ball off Caleb Kilian. It's been a disappointing season for the 29-year-old utility player, but a fresh start may be just what he needs after being acquired from the Rangers at the trade deadline. Smith will likely continue seeing action against right-handed pitching at the hot corner while Guerrero is sidelined.

Genao started at second base and went 0-for-4 in Friday's 8-2 win over the White Sox.

The switch-hitting Genao got the start against left-hander Noah Schultz, replacing Travis Bazzana at the keystone. Bazzana, who has struggled against left-handed pitching (.537 OPS) in the majors, may lose opportunities against southpaws going forward, which should benefit Genao.

Riley went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo homer during Friday's 3-2 extra-inning loss to the Yankees.

Neither team scored through the first seven innings, but Riley broke that drought with a solo homer in the eighth. It was the 14th home run of the season for Riley, who has reached base safely in six of his last seven games, going 9-for-23 with seven RBI and five extra-base hits in that span.

Arenado went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 4-3 win over the Dodgers.

Arenado is up to 17 homers on the year, including three over six games in August. He's added a 3:5 BB:K so far this month. The third baseman is hitting .241 with a .752 OPS, 54 RBI, 54 runs scored, 20 doubles and three stolen bases across 110 contests this season and should continue to see steady playing time.

Ramirez went 1-for-4 with two runs scored, a walk and a stolen base in Friday's 8-2 win over the White Sox.

Ramirez recorded his second consecutive game with multiple runs scored Friday. The 33-year-old swiped his 28th bag of the season in the first inning and then scored on a two-run single by Angel Martinez. On the campaign, the switch-hitting Ramirez has slashed .234/.334/.386 with 10 home runs, 35 RBI, 28 stolen bases and 52 runs over 369 plate appearances.

Chapman (abdomen) will undergo season-ending surgery Tuesday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Chapman will go under the knife to address a hernia that he played through for most of the season. The timing of the procedure will cause him to miss the remainder of the year, so the 33-year-old will close the book on a disappointing 2026 campaign in which he slashed .235/.324/.368 with seven homers, 42 RBI and 35 runs scored across 352 plate appearances. Christian Koss figures to serve as San Francisco's primary third baseman the rest of the way.

Alexander played catch Friday for the first time since sustaining a fractured left hand before the All-Star break, Andy Kostka of TheBanner.com reports.

Alexander told reporters after Friday's session that he's hoping to progress to a hitting program next week when the Orioles are in Minnesota for a three-game series against the Twins. Baltimore should have a better sense of Alexander's recovery timeline once he's cleared to take the next step in his recovery. He was in the midst of a strong 2026 season prior to his injury with an .807 OPS, nine steals (in 12 attempts), four home runs and 29 RBI over 244 plate appearances.

Sanoja is not in the lineup for Friday's contest against the Angels.

Sanoja will exit the lineup after starting each of the last six games. Leo Jimenez will hold down third base as the Marlins open up a homestand Friday.

Jordan is not in the lineup for Friday's contest against the Rockies.

After starting four of the previous five games, Jordan will begin Friday's festivities on the bench. The Cardinals will roll out Cesar Prieto at third base as they kick off a six-game homestand.

Vivas is not in the lineup for Friday's contest versus the Reds.

The lefty-swinging Vivas started at third base each of the last three times the Nationals faced a right-hander, but he'll begin this one on the bench as righty Chase Petty starts a bullpen game for Cincinnati. Brady House will be at the hot corner and bat third.
