Reds shortstop Eugenio Suarez hit a solo home run in Tuesday's loss to Minnesota. Suarez went deep for the second time this year and first since June 13. 

Suarez is 6 for his last 13 and has four RBI in the last two games. 

Orioles third baseman Manny Machado hit his 16th home run of the season in Tuesday night's 8-6 loss against the Rangers. 

Machado finished the game 1 for 4 with one RBI as the homer was a solo shot. Machado now has two home runs and 10 RBI in his past 10 games. For the season, Machado has a slash line of .307/.363/.533.

Indians third baseman Giovanny Urshela went 1 for 4 in Tuesday's win over Tampa Bay. 

Urshela hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning. It was his second of the year and first since June 11, giving him seven RBI on the year. 

Urshela extended his hitting streak to nine consecutive games. He's hitting .308 with .723 OPS over the streak. 

Rays third baseman Evan Longoria went 0 for 4 in Tuesday's loss to Cleveland.

Longoria struck out once and saw his seven-game hitting streak come to an end. Longoria hit .370 with 1.008 OPS over the streak.

Nationals infielder Anthony Rendon took batting practice on Tuesday, the first time he has done such since landing on the disabled list with quad injury on Friday. Rendon already missed the first two months of the season with knee and oblique injuries.

He has not started running yet, but he can participate in baseball activities, according to MASNSports.com.

Twins third baseman Trevor Plouffe doubled and had an RBI single during an 11-7 loss to the Reds on Monday. He also had two runs.

Plouffe is up to 18 doubles, including eight in his last 16 games. He is batting .263 (15 for 57) with one home run, eight RBI, 10 runs, five walks, five strikeouts and one stolen base in his last 15 games.

The Orioles may have gotten beat up by the Rangers on Monday, but that didn't stop third baseman Manny Machado from staying hot at the plate. Machado went 2 for 4 on Monday with his 18th double of the season in the 8-1 loss.

The two-hit effort brings his current hitting streak up to 11 games. The streak has lifted his season batting average up from .289 to it's current .307 mark.

Reds shortstop Eugenio Suarez never batted over .288 in the minors. He hit just .242 as a rookie in 2014. But the numbers don't lie - he is now at .316.

Of course, 57 at-bats is a small sample size. But Suarez has been hot for a while. He slammed three more hits Monday night against Minnesota to push his average to .406 (15-of-37) over his last nine starts and give him five multi-hit games in the last six.

Suarez, who hit his third double during that stretch Monday, also managed his first three-RBI game of the year.

Brewers shortstop Jean Segura is posting virtually the same numbers this season as he did a year ago. But that's not good considering his production in a breakout 2013.

Segura was showing some promise into mid-June before a recent slide. He is batting a mere .143 (7-for-49) since June 13 with no extra-base hits and just two runs scored. He has bottomed out with his current .259 average.

The Blue Jays will apparently not be negotiating a contract extension with slugging third baseman Josh Donaldson any time soon.

General manager Alex Anthopoulos indicated as much when asked about it Monday. "I don't think so," he told 590 The Fan.

Donaldson has more than lived up to expectations this season with a slash line of .301/.360/.540 and 48 RBI. He is enjoying arguably his best season, but the lack of motivation to extend him is understandable. He is locked up through 2018.
