  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Needs more time

Moncada (leg) will not be ready to be activated off the 10-day disabled list when eligible Sept. 4, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Moncada has been staying off the leg, but is set to begin baseball activities this weekend. In the meantime, the White Sox have an assortment of second base fill-ins, including Tyler Saladino, Yolmer Sanchez, Alen Hanson and Leury Garcia.

  • Orioles' Manny Machado: Four hits in Friday's extra-inning win

Machado went 4-for-6 and scored the game's only run in Friday's extra-inning win over the Blue Jays.

It's Machado's fourth multi-hit performance in his last five games as he continues to erase a disappointing first half from everyone's memory. The 25-year-old now has a .273 batting average -- the highest it's been since April 8 -- and his 30 homers and 88 RBI are right in line with preseason expectations.

  • Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW

Royals' Mike Moustakas: Launches 36th homer of season

Moustakas cracked a three-run home run for his lone hit in the Royals' win over the Twins on Friday.

"Moose" has been mired in a deep slump, as he holds a lowly .205 batting average since his previous homer August 15. His 36 long balls and .857 OPS on the season are certainly nothing to scoff at, but Moustakas' recent dry spell is a tough pill to swallow at this point in the season, especially given that he hadn't notched an extra-base hit for an entire week prior to Friday night.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Indians' Jose Ramirez: Out for Game 2

Ramirez is out of the lineup for Game 2 of Friday's doubleheader in Detroit.

He went 1-for-4 in the matinee, and is now hitting .302/.356/.529 on the season. Erik Gonzalez is starting at second base and hitting ninth while Yandy Diaz gets the start at third base, hitting second.

  • Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY

    Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Rejoins Colorado

McMahon was called up by the Rockies on Friday.

McMahon will rejoin the big-league club prior to this weekend's series against the Diamondbacks after spending the last couple weeks with Triple-A Albuquerque. The prospect appeared in a few games with the Rockies in mid-August, going 2-for-9 at the plate during his first taste of the majors. Moving forward, McMahon will serve as infield depth as the club looks to secure a spot in the NL wild card game.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Nationals' Anthony Rendon: Day off Friday

Rendon is not in the lineup for Friday's game in Milwaukee, Jamal Collier of MLB.com reports.

Rendon will get the day off following seven straight starts at the hot corner, going 10-for-27 (.370 average) with eight RBI during that span. In his place, Wilmer Difo draws the start while batting second in the order.

  • Brian Anderson RF | ATL

Marlins' Brian Anderson: Recalled, starting Friday's game

Anderson was called up by the Marlins on Friday, and will be starting at third base against the Phillies, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.

Anderson will make his major-league debut at third base, just a month and a half since earning a promotion to Triple-A Jacksonville. During his time with the Triple-A club, Anderson slashed .339/.416/.602 with eight home runs and 26 RBI. The 24-year-old is one of the top prospects in the Marlins system, and looks to get a decent amount of playing time over the next month with Miami.

  • Pedro Alvarez 3B | MIA

Orioles' Pedro Alvarez: Contract selected from Norfolk

Alvarez's contract was selected from Triple-A Norfolk on Friday.

He failed to impress at Triple-A this year, hitting .239/.294/.442 with 26 home runs in 138 games. Given his inability to provide quality defense anywhere on the diamond, and the Orioles' plethora of better versions of that type of player, Alvarez will primarily be used as a pinch hitter in the final month.

  • Drew Robinson 3B | TEX

Rangers' Drew Robinson: At-bats tailing off

Robinson went 0-for-3 with a walk and two strikeouts in Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Astros.

Robinson saw his at-bats pick up earlier in August when both Joey Gallo (concussion) and Carlos Gomez (back) were on the disabled list, but now that both players are healthy again, the rookie's window to regular starts has closed. It's still likely that Robinson, who can be deployed just about everywhere except pitcher and catcher, will pick up a start or two per week in September thanks to his versatility alone.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Staying off leg

Moncada (leg) has not yet begun baseball-related activities, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Manager Rick Renteria said Moncada "has been at home resting, trying to stay off his leg." The rookie second baseman will be re-evaluated Friday, and the White Sox will see if he's able to start baseball activities. Moncada suffered a bone bruise on his right shin and was placed on the 10-day disabled list Aug. 25.
