    Nationals' Anthony Rendon: Continues hot streak

    Rendon went 3-for-3 with two runs, a double, a home run and four RBI in Tuesday's 9-4 win over the Marlins.

    Rendon collected four RBI for the second straight game as he is taking the Marlins' pitching to task in the first two games of the series. The 28-year-old has an 11-game hit streak in which he is 18-for-39 with four doubles, five home runs and 20 RBI. Rendon boosted his season slash line to .312/.378/.540 with Tuesday's performance.

    Escobar is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Dodgers.

    Escobar is in the midst of a six-game hit streak, slashing .333/.364/.429 over that stretch, but he'll head to the bench as manager Torey Lovullo rests some of his starters with the Diamondbacks out of playoff contention. In his place, Chris Owings will man third base and hit seventh.

    Chapman took Shawn Armstrong deep in the seventh inning to give the Athletics a 5-3 lead. He now has 24 home runs for the season, powered by the nine long balls he put up in August. He's posted an impressive sophomore campaign, hitting .280/.357/.516 across 600 plate appearances.

    Rendon plated a pair in the first inning on a double to left field and belted a two-run blast in the fourth to put Washington up by four. He's been on a tear at the dish during the final month of the regular season, batting .360 with five home runs and 21 RBI over 22 games. Rendon has also extended his hitting streak to 10 following a multi-hit game in the series opener.

    Anderson went 1-for-3 with an RBI in Monday's 7-3 loss to the Nationals.

    Anderson knocked in a run during the fifth inning on a single to center, but Washington would ultimately emerge with the win. The 25-year-old third baseman has put together a modest four-game hitting streak as the final week of the regular season unfolds. He's posted a .272/.356/.394 batting line through 152 games in what's been a discouraging year for Miami.

    Muncy is not in the lineup Monday against the Diamondbacks, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

    Muncy will retreat to the bench for Monday's series opener as manager Dave Roberts stacks right-handed hitters against southpaw Robbie Ray. In his place, David Freese will cover first base and hit third.

    Donaldson has hit just .219 in 10 games since joining Cleveland, though he has a pair of homers and a respectable enough .712 OPS. Yandy Diaz will start at third base Monday.

    The Indians can afford to give their hardest-worked players some days off in the final week of the season with the team locked into the third seed in the AL playoffs. Adam Rosales will start in his place at second base.
