Machado went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, two total runs scored and two total RBI in a win over the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

Machado entered the contest having gone hitless through his first seven at-bats of the campaign, but he struck quickly Saturday with a solo home run in the first inning and later drove in another run with a single in the fourth. The veteran third baseman is coming off a third-place finish in NL MVP voting last season and should have plenty of opportunities for production in 2021 in the heart of a loaded Padres lineup.

Arenado went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Saturday's loss to the Reds.

Make it back-to-back multi-hit games for Arenado to kick off his Cardinals career. He got a late-game at-bat against Sal Romano on Saturday and capitalized with his first long ball (and first extra-base hit) with St. Louis. Arenado has been batting third between Paul Goldschmidt and Paul DeJong.

Hayes had X-rays on his left wrist come back negative after leaving Saturday's game against the Cubs, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.

The 24-year-old was pulled from Saturday's loss with left wrist discomfort, but the Pirates can breathe a sigh of relief as it appears he avoided a serious injury. The team figures to remain cautious with its star prospect, and Hayes should be considered day-to-day until his status is updated.

Candelario went 3-for-4 with one double, two runs and one RBI during Saturday's 5-2 win over Cleveland.

The 27-year-old was 1-for-4 with three strikeouts Opening Day, but he had zero strikeouts while powering Detroit's offense Saturday. Candelario had a .297/.369/.503 slash line in 206 plate appearances last season and is off to a strong start in 2021.

Donaldson (hamstring) will hit and work out Saturday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Donaldson landed on the 10-day injured list with a strained right hamstring Saturday, but it looks as though he may not be in line for a long-term absence. He went through exercises Friday without pain, so this appears to be a case of the Twins being extra cautious with the oft-injured veteran.

Manager Derek Shelton said after Saturday's game that Hayes (wrist) is still being evaluated and the team will have more information regarding his status Sunday, AT&T SportsNet reports.

The manager added that Hayes injured himself during a plate appearance. "He caught the nob on his swing, when he turned it over so I guess the nob kind of caught in his hand awkwardly," Shelton said. The injury is new and not something that lingered throughout spring training. Fantasy managers will need to wait until Sunday for further guidance on Hayes.

Madrigal will sit Saturday against the Angels.

Madrigal started the first two games of the season at second base, going 2-for-8 while getting caught stealing in his only attempt to run. Leury Garcia takes over at the keystone in his absence.

Anderson will sit Saturday against the Rays, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Anderson started both of the first two games of the season at third base, going 1-for-7 at the plate. He'll hit the bench Saturday despite the fact that the Rays will start the game with the left-handed Rich Hill on the mound. Jon Berti makes his first start of the year in his absence.

Hayes left Saturday's game against the Cubs with left wrist discomfort, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Hayes appeared to be in some pain after fouling a pitch off in the first inning and was checked out by team trainers after reaching first base on a walk. He initially stayed in the game and scored a run but was later replaced by Erik Gonzalez. It's possible the diagnosis changes following further tests.

Donaldson was placed on the 10-day injured list with a mild right hamstring strain Saturday, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

Injuries are part of the package with Donaldson at this stage of his career, though those who drafted him this season likely hoped to get more than one inning out of him before his first trip to the injured list. There are some positives here, as the issue was described as "mild" and at least isn't yet another calf problem, but it's hard to be too optimistic given the veteran's recent track record. He's missed over a third of his team's games dating back to the start of the 2017 season. Brent Rooker was recalled to take his place on the roster.
