Peterson will start at third base and bat sixth Thursday against the Pirates.

Peterson will stick in the lineup for the fifth game in a row, but his path to an everyday role still appears blocked. Before checking back into the starting nine Thursday, second baseman Kolten Wong (calf) missed the previous four games, and third baseman Luis Urias appears to be receiving a routine maintenance day in the series opener in Pittsburgh. Assuming both Wong and Urias are in the lineup together Friday, Peterson could find himself back on the bench despite going 10-for-18 with four doubles, five RBI and seven runs over his past seven appearances.

Ramirez (face) is starting Thursday's game against the Astros.

Ramirez fouled a pitch off his cheek in Wednesday's matinee and had his face evaluated at the hospital following his departure. However, he apparently isn't dealing with a serious injury, as he'll start at the hot corner and bat third in Thursday's series opener.

Moncada was removed from Thursday's game against the Twins with a bruised right hand.

Moncada is being further evaluated after he was shaken up while sliding into third base Thursday. The 26-year-old went 2-for-2 with a run scored before leaving the game, and a better idea of his status could be revealed following his evaluation.

Moncada exited Thursday's game against Twins with an apparent right wrist injury, Vinnie Duber of NBC Sports Chicago reports. He went 2-for-2 with a run scored prior to his departure.

Moncada went down after he slid into third base in the bottom of the third inning Thursday, and he was initially able to remain in the game after he was examined by trainers for several minutes. However, he was replaced defensively to begin the fourth inning. The exact nature and severity of his injury aren't yet clear.

Maton will start at second base and bat seventh Thursday against the Marlins.

After going 1-for-2 with a triple, a walk, two runs and two RBI while filling in for a resting Ronald Torreyes in Wednesday's 11-6 loss, Maton will stick in the lineup for the series finale. This time around, Maton will be replacing second baseman Jean Segura, who is getting a breather after returning from the injured list earlier this week. Maton looks like he'll serve as the Phillies' top reserve middle infielder while he's up with the big club.

Segura is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Marlins, Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Segura is likely just getting some routine maintenance for the series finale after he returned from the injured list Tuesday and started both of the Phillies' past two games. Nick Maton will step in at second base in place of Segura, who went 1-for-7 with a walk, a run and an RBI in his first two games back from the IL.

Riley finished 3-for-6 with three RBI and a run scored Wednesday in Atlanta's 20-2 win over the Mets.

Riley has been in a bit of a power drought of late with only one home run and two doubles over his final 16 games of June, but he at least closed the month on a four-game hitting streak while lifting his average to .279 on the season. The 24-year-old managed a .232 average over his first two years in the majors, so he's been one of the more pleasant surprises in that category in 2021. Riley's .271 expected batting average suggests he shouldn't be in line for major regression as the season unfolds.

Donaldson went 1-for-3 with a solo home run Wednesday in the Twins' 13-3 loss to the White Sox.

For the second straight day, Donaldson homered in his first at-bat of the game, and he's now left the yard in three consecutive contests to boost his season total to 13. While the 33-45 Twins have been one of baseball's biggest disappointments this season, it's been through little fault on the part of Donaldson, who continues to play at a high level in his age-35 campaign. He's currently sporting an OPS over .800 for the sixth straight season, and his 19.4 percent strikeout rate is his lowest since 2016.

LeMahieu went 1-for-4 with a double, a walk and three RBI in Wednesday's loss to the Angels.

The leadoff man continued his recent offensive surge with a three-run double to cap a seven-run first inning for New York. The base knock extended LeMahieu's current his streak to 13 games, during which he is slashing .321/.387/.518 with three homers and 14 RBI. The hot stretch has pushed LeMahieu's average up to .273 overall on the season.

Ramirez won't start Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader against Detroit and will go to the hospital to have his face evaluated, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports. Manager Terry Francona said that Ramirez is expected to be "fine" after fouling a pitch off his face during Game 1 of the twin bill.

Ramirez was initially able to remain in the game after he fouled a pitch off his cheek in the fifth inning. He was later replaced by Owen Miller in the top of the seventh, but it sounds like that was mainly a precautionary move with Cleveland trailing 7-4. Ramirez won't start Game 2 as he gets evaluated by doctors, but based on Francona's initial update, he doesn't appear likely to face an extended absence.
