  • Patrick Wisdom 3B | SEA

Cubs' Patrick Wisdom: Dealing with multiple injuries

Wisdom is managing right neck tightness and a left eye contusion after he exited Wednesday's loss to the Brewers in the second inning, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Initial tests indicate that Wisdom has avoided a concussion after he collied with Tyrone Taylor during a play at first base, but the infielder will still have to manage the eye and neck issues in coming days. He can be considered day-to-day for the time being, with a further update likely coming from the Cubs later Wednesday or early Thursday.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Returns to lineup

Moncada (shoulder) is starting Wednesday against Minnesota.

Moncada missed Tuesday's game against the Twins due to a right shoulder injury, but he'll be back in action following his brief absence. The third baseman has gone 4-for-16 with two RBI, a run, a stolen base and five walks across his last five appearances.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Slays Giants again

Muncy went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, two walks and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 3-1 victory over San Francisco.

Muncy accounted for the Dodgers' final run of the contest with a 404-foot solo shot to center field in the third inning. The homer was his second of the two-game series against the division-rival Giants and his seventh in nine games against them this season. Muncy is tied for third in MLB with 52 walks and ranks second with a .418 OBP.

  • Abraham Toro 1B | BOS

Astros' Abraham Toro: Out of lineup Wednesday

Toro isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Orioles, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Toro drove in all three of Houston's runs in Tuesday's loss to the Orioles, but he'll retreat to the bench for Wednesday's series finale. Robel Garcia will start at third base and bat seventh.

  • Gio Urshela 3B | MIN

Yankees' Gio Urshela: Takes seat Wednesday

Urshela is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels.

DJ LeMahieu will pick up a start at third base in place of Urshela, who will get a breather after he had been in the lineup in each of the past five contests. Unless he's deployed as a pinch hitter Wednesday, Urshela will wrap up June with a .298/.327/.532 slash line and five home runs across 23 games.

  • Jose Miranda 3B | MIN

Twins' Jose Miranda: Superb in Triple-A debut

Miranda went 5-for-6 with three home runs, a double, four runs and six RBI in Triple-A St. Paul's 15-4 win over St. Paul on Tuesday.

After getting called up from Double-A Wichita on Monday, Miranda made his Triple-A debut Tuesday, and it couldn't have gone any better. A relatively unheralded prospect heading into 2021, Miranda has put himself in the conversation for a second-half call-up after dazzling at Double-A and in his first game at Triple-A. Over 224 plate appearances between the two affiliates, Miranda has supplied a .360/.420/.645 slash line while striking out only 11.2 percent of the time.

  • Patrick Wisdom 3B | SEA

Cubs' Patrick Wisdom: Exits after collison

Wisdom went 2-for-2 with two RBI and a run scored before exiting in the second inning of Wednesday's game against the Brewers after being involved in a collision at first base, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Wisdom, who was drawing the start at first base in place of the injured Anthony Rizzo (back), was pulled off the bag and into the running path of Brewers outfielder Tyrone Taylor on an errant throw from Jake Arrieta. In the collision with Taylor, Wisdom appeared to absorb the brunt of the damage, as he was on the ground for several moments before getting up under his own power. The Cubs will presumably put Wisdom through concussion tests and additional medical evaluations before providing an update on his condition.

  • Royals' Emmanuel Rivera: Placed on injured list

Rivera was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left hamate fracture Wednesday.

Rivera was removed from Tuesday's game against the Red Sox due to pain in his left wrist. While the Royals haven't indicated when the third baseman could return, he could require more than 10 days on the shelf since he's been diagnosed with a fracture. Hanser Alberto could see increased playing time in his absence, while Edward Olivares was recalled from Triple-A Omaha in a corresponding move.

  • Eugenio Suarez DH | CIN

Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Not in Wednesday's lineup

Suarez isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Padres.

Suarez struck out in each of his four at-bats Tuesday, and he'll get a breather in Wednesday's matchup. Alejo Lopez will start at third base and bat fifth.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Athletics' Matt Chapman: Launches 11th homer

Chapman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the Rangers on Tuesday.

The power-hitting third baseman belted a 420-foot shot to left in the first inning, giving the Athletics a 1-0 lead two batters into their first frame. Chapman remains in the midst of an excellent stretch at the plate, as he now owns a 16-game hitting streak during which he's produced a .323 average, 1.067 OPS, 11 extra-base hits (four doubles, one triple, six home runs) and 18 RBI across 72 plate appearances.
