  • Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW

Reds' Mike Moustakas: Placed on COVID-19 IL

Moustakas was placed on the COVID-19 injured list for an unspecified reason Monday.

The Reds didn't provide an injury designation for the 33-year-old's placement on the IL and designated their subsequent call-up as a replacement player, so it's likely that Moustakas is on the COVID-19 IL. A timetable for his return depends on whether he's tested positive for the virus, but he'll be eligible to rejoin the Reds as soon as he clears the league's health and safety protocols. The Reds have several players on the injured list, so Matt Reynolds and Alejo Lopez will likely see an uptick in playing time while Moustakas is sidelined.

  • Taylor Walls SS | TB

Rays' Taylor Walls: On bench Monday

Walls isn't starting Monday against the Angels, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

Walls has gone 0-for-15 with a run, a walk and eight strikeouts over his last four games, and he'll be out of the lineup for the second time in the last three matchups. Yandy Diaz will shift to third base while Brett Phillips enters the lineup in right field.

  • Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW

Reds' Mike Moustakas: Not in Monday's lineup

Moustakas isn't starting Monday against the Brewers.

Moustakas started in the last 10 games and hit .344 with a homer, three doubles, five runs and five RBI. Tyler Naquin will serve as the designated hitter while TJ Friedl starts in right field.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

    Dodgers' Max Muncy: Resting Monday

Muncy is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Pirates, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Hanser Alberto will enter the starting nine at third base in place of Muncy, who takes a seat after he was included in the lineup in each of the past five games. Through the first five games of May, Muncy is reaching base at a .400 clip, but it's largely been driven by walks (six) rather than hits (two).

  • Abraham Toro 1B | BOS

Mariners' Abraham Toro: Launches game-tying homer

Toro went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in an extra-inning win over the Rays on Sunday.

Toro's game-tying solo homer in the ninth inning off Andrew Kittredge knotted the game at 1-1, setting the table for an eventual Ty France game-winning RBI single in the 10th. Toro has made quite the impact while drawing back-to-back starts, as he also launched a solo shot in Saturday's loss.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Makes return from IL

The White Sox reinstated Moncada (oblique) from the 10-day injured list Monday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Chicago has yet to unveil its lineup ahead of Monday's series opener against the Guardians, but manager Tony La Russa said Sunday that Moncada would slot in as the White Sox's No. 2 hitter in his 2022 debut, per Daryl Van Schouwen. Moncada was given the green light to rejoin the White Sox following a productive six-game rehab assignment at Triple-A Charlotte in which he slashed .318/.360/.636 with two home runs and a double.

  • Jake Burger 1B | TEX

White Sox's Jake Burger: Optioned to Triple-A

Burger was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte on Monday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Burger was moved to Triple-A as a result of Yoan Moncada (oblique) returning from the 10-day injured list Monday. The 26-year-old has produced a .239/.276/.352 slash line with two homers and seven RBI over 71 at-bats with the White Sox this season. It is likely he will return to the big-league club again at some point this summer.

  • Ramon Urias 3B | STL

Orioles' Ramon Urias: Sits for series finale

Urias is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Royals, Zachary Silver of MLB.com reports.

After picking up starts at the hot corner in each of the past four games -- including both ends of Sunday's doubleheader split -- Urias will take a seat for the series finale. Tyler Nevin replaces Urias at third base.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Astros' Alex Bregman: Slugs fifth homer

Bregman went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and two runs scored Sunday against the Tigers.

Bregman took Joe Jimenez yard in the fifth inning to record his fifth homer of the season. He has yet to get going at the plate -- he has just seven hits in 34 at-bats across his last 10 games -- but he has more walks than strikeouts and is suffering from a .228 BABIP. Bregman should be able to improve upon his .235 batting average going forward and remain a strong source of runs due to his strong on-base percentage.

  • Nick Senzel 3B | LAD

Reds' Nick Senzel: 'Couple days away' from return

Manager David Bell said Sunday that Senzel (illness) is still "a couple of days" away from returning from the COVID-19-related injured list, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Bell said the same is true for Joey Votto, who remains away from the team along with Senzel after both recently tested positive for the virus. Senzel looks like he can safely be ruled out for Monday's series opener with the Brewers, which should pave the way for Albert Almora to draw another start in center field.
