Segura will start at second base and bat leadoff in Wednesday's game against the Reds.

With the lefty-hitting Bryson Stott getting the afternoon off with southpaw Nick Lodolo on the hill for the Reds and with Kyle Schwarber (calf) still out of the lineup, Segura will step into the leadoff role for the 12th time this season. Segura gets the assignment after going 3-for-5 with a run scored in Tuesday's 11-4 win.

Bregman went 2-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored Tuesday against the White Sox.

Bregman doubled in consecutive plate appearances, and he tallied an RBI and run scored in the third inning. The effort extended Bregman's hitting streak to eight games, during which he's collected three home runs, four doubles, nine runs scored and 10 RBI. For the season, he now owns a .820 OPS, his highest mark since the 2019 campaign.

Castro went 0-for-3 with a walk Tuesday against the Red Sox.

Castro has taken advantage of Ke'Bryan Hayes' (back) absence and appeared in the lineup for six of eight games since being promoted from Triple-A Indianapolis. Hayes will now be sidelined until at least Aug. 24 after being placed on the injured list Tuesday, which should lock Castro in as the primary third baseman in Pittsburgh for the time being. Since returning to the majors, Castro has collected eight hits in 24 at-bats with a home run, one RBI and two runs scored.

Miranda went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a walk in Tuesday's 9-0 win over the Royals.

Miranda continues to hit well in August -- he's gone 17-for-55 (.309) through 14 games this month. Six of those have been multi-hit efforts. The corner infielder is up to a .283/.330/.461 slash line with 11 home runs, 49 RBI, 29 runs scored, one stolen base and 15 doubles through 288 plate appearances, and he's emerged as a fixture in the heart of the Twins' order.

Urshela went 4-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 9-0 win over the Royals.

Urshela contributed RBI singles in the seventh and eighth innings. This was his third multi-hit effort in 11 games in August, and he's hit .300 (12-for-40) this month with four extra-base hits. The third baseman is batting .269 -- his highest mark since June 11 -- while adding a .745 OPS, 11 home runs, 49 RBI and 41 runs scored through 97 contests.

Davis is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Davis went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs Monday but will take a seat for Tuesday's contest. Evan Longoria will start at the hot corner while Wilmer Flores serves as the designated hitter.

McMahon is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cardinals.

McMahon went 3-for-4 in Colorado's last game Sunday and owns a 1.133 OPS in August, but he will be held out Tuesday with the Rockies loading up on right-handed hitters against Cardinals southpaw Jose Quintana. Elehuris Montero will man the hot corner in McMahon's place.

Escobar was scratched from the lineup for Tuesday's game in Atlanta due to a sore left oblique, and he's expected to be placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Escobar was poised to move into a full-time role at third base after strong-side platoon mate Luis Guillorme (groin) landed on the injured list Monday, but the Mets are now set to be without their top two options at the position for the foreseeable future. As a result, the Mets are poised to expedite top prospect Brett Baty's arrival to the big leagues, as the 22-year-old will have his contract selected from Triple-A Syracuse ahead of Wednesday's game, according to DiComo. Depending on how well he performs in his initial taste of the big leagues, Baty could hold off Guillorme and Escobar for playing time once both are healthy again.

Pirates manager Derek Shelton said Hayes will be placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday due to a mid-back muscle strain, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Hayes had missed the Bucs' last three games while dealing with the back issue and hadn't shown any significant improvement, so he'll be out of action for at least the next week as he continues to work through the issue. The Pirates called up corner infielder Kevin Padlo from Triple-A Indianapolis in a corresponding move, but Rodolfo Castro is likely the main candidate to pick up playing time at third base while Hayes is on the shelf.

The Mets plan to call up Baty from Triple-A Syracuse either Tuesday or Wednesday, Michael Mayer of MetsmerizedOnline.com reports.

The Mets have yet to confirm that Baty will join the team in advance of Tuesday's game in Atlanta, but it looks as though he'll get the call to the big leagues no later than Wednesday in the wake of top third baseman Luis Guillorme (groin) landing on the injured list Monday. Though Eduardo Escobar offers an experienced replacement option at the position, he's turned in a measly .653 OPS on the season, so the Mets likely believe that the 22-year-old Baty can provide an upgrade at the hot corner. The No. 12 overall pick of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft, Baty has continued to rake at the Triple-A level since being promoted from Double-A Binghamton last week. Between his two minor-league stops this season, Baty has slashed .315/.410/.533 with 19 home runs.
