  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Nationals' Anthony Rendon: Plates four in win

Rendon went 3-for-4 with a double, a two-run home run and four RBI during Monday's win over Miami.

It'll be tough to top Rendon's monster 2014 campaign, but he's really taking a run at doing so this year. He's now up to a .304/.404/.544 slash line with 23 homers, 90 RBI, seven stolen bases and 69 runs. If it wasn't for an underwhelming August (one home run with a .764 OPS), a career-best showing might have been in the cards.

  • Brian Anderson RF | ATL

Marlins' Brian Anderson: Earns fourth straight start

Anderson will start at third base and bat seventh Monday against the Nationals, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.

Derek Dietrich had been seeing most of the starts at third base in August, but the Marlins have been using him as a roving infielder so far in September, opening up a fourth consecutive start for Anderson at the hot corner. Anderson has held his own with a .385 on-base percentage in the previous three contests, and could continue to see at least semi-regular work throughout the final month of the season if he keeps it up at the plate.

  • Carlos Asuaje 3B | LAD

Padres' Carlos Asuaje: Heads to bench Monday

Asuaje is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals.

Asuaje will get the day off after starting the last 13 games at the keystone and going 12-for-51 (.235) over that span. Yangervis Solarte will take over at second base for the game, opening up a spot for Erick Aybar to start at shortstop.

  • Nick Senzel 3B | LAD

Reds' Nick Senzel: Shut down with vertigo

Senzel is suffering from symptoms of vertigo and isn't expected to play again in 2017, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Senzel hasn't played since Aug. 24 due to the issue, but it isn't expected to be anything that will force him to alter his preparation heading into the 2018 campaign. After opening the season with High-A Daytona and quickly proving himself worthy of advanced competition, Senzel took his production up a notch at Double-A Pensacola, slashing .340/.413/.560 in 235 plate appearances. He'll likely enter the upcoming season as the Reds' top prospect and could make his MLB debut later in 2018.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Rockies' Nolan Arenado: Not starting Sunday

Arenado is out of the lineup Sunday against the Diamondbacks.

Arenado will get just his third day off since the All-Star break and first since Aug. 14. He's been in a bit of a funk lately, going 1-for-10 with six strikeouts in the last three games, but don't expect that to last. The Rockies are currently maintaining a 1.5 game lead over the Brewers in the NL Wild Card, but giving their star player an occasional breather remains a top priority.

  • Carlos Asuaje 3B | LAD

Padres' Carlos Asuaje: Homers off Darvish

Asuaje went 1-for-4 with a walk and a solo homer in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Dodgers.

The 25-year-old touched up Yu Darvish in the third inning for his fourth home run of the season (227 at-bats). He's still just 4-for-his-last-32 and Asuaje has done little in the other categories to make up for the middling average he's posted over the past several weeks.

  • Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY

    Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Rejoins Colorado

McMahon was called up by the Rockies on Friday.

McMahon will rejoin the big-league club prior to this weekend's series against the Diamondbacks after spending the last couple weeks with Triple-A Albuquerque. The prospect appeared in a few games with the Rockies in mid-August, going 2-for-9 at the plate during his first taste of the majors. Moving forward, McMahon will serve as infield depth as the club looks to secure a spot in the NL wild card game.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Nationals' Anthony Rendon: Day off Friday

Rendon is not in the lineup for Friday's game in Milwaukee, Jamal Collier of MLB.com reports.

Rendon will get the day off following seven straight starts at the hot corner, going 10-for-27 (.370 average) with eight RBI during that span. In his place, Wilmer Difo draws the start while batting second in the order.

  • Brian Anderson RF | ATL

Marlins' Brian Anderson: Recalled, starting Friday's game

Anderson was called up by the Marlins on Friday, and will be starting at third base against the Phillies, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.

Anderson will make his major-league debut at third base, just a month and a half since earning a promotion to Triple-A Jacksonville. During his time with the Triple-A club, Anderson slashed .339/.416/.602 with eight home runs and 26 RBI. The 24-year-old is one of the top prospects in the Marlins system, and looks to get a decent amount of playing time over the next month with Miami.

  • Kyle Farmer 3B | ATL

Dodgers' Kyle Farmer: Optioned to Triple-A

Farmer was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday.

With Cody Bellinger coming off the DL, the Dodgers needed to clear a spot for the final two days before rosters expand. Farmer is deserving of a significant trial in the big leagues, but he will need an injury to Yasmani Grandal or Austin Barnes to get any kind of steady work in September. He is hitting .311/.360/.495 with seven home runs and a 15.3 percent strikeout rate in the Pacific Coast League, and serves as another reminder of the Dodgers' embarrassment of riches.
