  • Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW

Brewers' Mike Moustakas: Out of Tuesday's lineup

Moustakas (finger) isn't starting Tuesday against the Cardinals.

Moustakas will miss his third straight game since fracturing his right ring finger, and even though the Brewers are optimistic about his chances of avoiding an extended absence, he'll likely require a trip to the injured list if he doesn't show improvement soon. Hernan Perez will once again start at second base and bat sixth.

  • Drew Robinson 3B | TEX

Cardinals' Drew Robinson: Heads back to farm

The Cardinals optioned Robinson to Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday.

Robinson's stay with the big club lasted just one day, with the utility man delivering a pinch-hit single in his lone at-bat during Monday's 13-5 win over the Brewers. His removal from the active roster clears a spot for pitcher Daniel Ponce de Leon, who is scheduled to start Tuesday.

  • Diamondbacks' Eduardo Escobar: Records three hits

Escobar went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and two RBI-singles in a 12-4 victory against the Pirates on Monday.

The 30-year-old was approaching the Mendoza Line in the middle of April, but over the last nine games, he is hitting .313 with two home runs and six RBI. That's raised his overall season average to .247. Escobar is about where he needs to be with three home runs this month as well. He smashed three or four bombs in each month last year on his way to 23 homers. With three home runs in 85 at-bats, Escobar is on track for his third straight 20-homer season. In addition to three bombs, he has 12 RBI and 10 runs in 23 games.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Phillies' Jean Segura: Targeting Saturday return

Segura (hamstring) is expected to be activated from the 10-day injured list in time for Saturday's game against Miami, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Segura landed on the injured list with a left hamstring strain, but his time on the shelf appears to be coming to an end. Barring any setbacks, the veteran shortstop should return to the starting lineup after missing the minimum.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Rockies' Nolan Arenado: Homers against Nationals

Arenado went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a double, two RBI and three runs in Colorado's 7-5 victory over the Nationals on Monday.

Arenado's early season slump is looking like a thing of the past, as he now has three multi-hit games and all four of his home runs on the season over his last seven games. The hot streak moves the slugging third baseman's slash line up to .281/.337/.483 over 89 at-bats, and those numbers are likely to keep rising as he finds his groove at the plate.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Nationals' Anthony Rendon: Remains out Monday

Rendon (elbow) remains out of the lineup Monday against the Rockies, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Rendon took a pitch off his elbow Saturday against the Marlins and has yet to get back on the field. Howie Kendrick starts at third base for the second straight game.

  • J.D. Davis 1B | LAA

Mets' J.D. Davis: Set to lose playing time

Davis is expected to lose at-bats with Todd Frazier returning from his oblique injury Monday, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.

Davis may be playing well enough to avoid a true bench role, but he certainly won't keep up the pace which saw him start 15 of the Mets' first 21 games. He looked good when given regular playing time, hitting .273/.385/.491 with three homers and an equal number of walks and strikeouts (10).

  • Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW

Brewers' Mike Moustakas: Remains out Monday

Moustakas (finger) remains out of the lineup Monday against the Cardinals.

Moustakas has a fractured finger but reportedly won't need to head to the injured list. Hernan Perez starts at second base for the third straight game in his absence.

  • Kevin Newman 3B | LAA

Pirates' Kevin Newman: Set for rehab assignment

General manager Neal Huntington said Sunday that Newman (finger) will likely begin a rehab assignment this week, Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Newman, who is returning from a laceration on one of the fingers on his right hand, is expected to play multiple different positions during the rehab assignment and will have his throwing monitored carefully while in the minors. Huntington suggested that the Pirates will "see where we are in two weeks" when referring to Newman's rehab assignment, making it likely that the 25-year-old won't be activated until early May. Though the Pirates will be missing Erik Gonzalez (collarbone) for at least the next two months, Newman might be in line for a utility role once back with the big club if highly touted prospect Cole Tucker continues to perform well as the interim starter at shortstop.

  • Drew Robinson 3B | TEX

Cardinals' Drew Robinson: Back in big leagues

Robinson was recalled from Triple-A Memphis on Monday.

Robinson has already had two separate stints in St. Louis this season but only has six at-bats and zero hits. This latest stay may not last particularly long, as the Cardinals will need a starter Tuesday in place of Michael Wacha (knee).
