Giants' Evan Longoria: Adds RBI in return
Longoria (oblique) went 1-for-4 with a sacrifice fly in Thursday's 12-7 loss to the Padres.
Longoria's sacrifice fly scored Mike Yastrzemski in the fifth inning to get the Giants on the board. Longoria also had a pair of strikeouts in his season debut. The 34-year-old figures to see the majority of the playing time at third base, though he could also DH on occasion.

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Goes yard in win
Muncy went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and another run scored during Thursday's win in Arizona.
Muncy launched his third long ball of the season with a solo shot off reliever Alex Young in the sixth inning. He also singled and scored in the first, and walked in the fourth. The 29-year-old appears to be on his way to another successful season.

Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Getting back on track
After going 0-for-13 (albeit with four walks) over his first four games, Suarez has had hits in the last two games, including a two-run single Wednesday night.
The Reds collectively started slow this season, but caught fire Wednesday night against Kyle Hendricks and the Cubs' bullpen. It's a matter of time before Suarez gets his power stroke back.

Giants' Evan Longoria: Officially activated Thursday
Longoria (oblique) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Thursday.
Longoria was progressing toward making his debut after dealing with a right oblique strain, but he'll officially be available for the Giants' series finale against the Padres. With Longoria and Brandon Belt (Achilles) returning to action, Wilmer Flores and Donovan Solano could see fewer opportunities going forward.

Giants' Evan Longoria: Should be back Thursday
Giants manager Gabe Kapler reiterated that Longoria (oblique) remains on track to return from the 10-day injured list ahead of Thursday's series finale against the Padres, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
Longoria was placed on the IL shortly before Opening Day with a moderate right oblique strain, but he'll end up missing the minimum amount of time due to the injury. The Giants had been running out a tandem of Wilmer Flores and Donovan Solano to cover the hot corner while Longoria was out, but both will likely see most of their future opportunities at second base, shortstop or designated hitter now that both Longoria and Brandon Belt (Achilles) are set to return from the IL.

Padres' Manny Machado: Goes deep against Giants
Machado went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk during Wednesday's 7-6 loss against the Giants.
Machado took Johnny Cueto deep in the bottom of the third inning for his second long ball of the season. This was Machado's first multi-hit game of the campaign and he is hitting just .227 in his first 26 plate appearances, but he has reached base safely in all but one of his contests thus far.

Reds' Nick Senzel: Goes deep in first game back
Senzel went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run Wednesday against the Cubs.
Senzel took Rex Brothers yard in the fifth inning, capping a seven-run inning for the Reds. It was Senzel's first home run of the season, and welcomed production after he was out of the lineup for the team's past three games due to illness. He has gotten off to a relatively slow start with the bat otherwise, but has struck out only once in 12 plate appearances.

Reds' Mike Moustakas: Homers in return
Moustakas went 1-for-2 with two walks, a home run, two RBI and two runs scored Wednesday against the Cubs.
Moustakas was cleared to return after being absent from the Reds' lineup for the past three games due to an illness. He quickly produced at the plate, taking Kyle Hendricks deep in his second at-bat of the game for a two-run home run. It was Moustakas' second homer of the year, and he has now reached base in seven of his 12 plate appearances.

Mets' J.D. Davis: Gets day off
Davis is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Red Sox, Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News reports.
Davis will sit for the first time all season as Dominic Smith gets the nod in left field Wednesday. Through five games this season, the 27-year-old Davis is 4-for-16 with a home run and two RBI.

Reds' Nick Senzel: Back in lineup
Senzel will bat seventh and play center field Wednesday against the Cubs.
Senzel missed the last three games with what was ultimately determined to be a non-COVID illness. He's still looking for his first hit of the year after going 0-for-7 in his first two games.
