  • Brett Baty 3B | NYM

Mets' Brett Baty: Sitting versus lefty

Baty is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

It's the third baseman's fifth absence in New York's past six games, with all of those absences coming versus left-handed starting pitchers. Baty has been filling the strong side of a platoon at third base and has a .762 OPS through 10 games in September, which should be enough for him to retain that role despite the recent downturn in playing time.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: First day off of 2025

Machado is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies.

In what appears to be a planned rest day, Machado will get a first day off of the season after starting in each of the Padres' first 149 games of the campaign. Jose Iglesias will step in at third base for Machado, who went 4-for-10 with two home runs, two walks, four RBI and four runs through the first three games of the series.

  • Brady House 3B | WAS

Nationals' Brady House: On bench Sunday

House is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

House will take a seat Sunday after a run of five straight starts, during which he went 4-for-17 with a double and a solo homer. Paul DeJong is manning the hot corner and batting seventh in the series finale for the Nationals.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Giants' Matt Chapman: Scores twice in defeat

Chapman went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, an RBI, a double and a walk in Saturday's 13-7 loss to the Dodgers.

Chapman lined an RBI single to left field in the first inning before coming around to score. He added a double in the fifth and scored once again, marking his fourth multi-hit performance across 11 games this month. He's slashing .361/.465/.722 with 10 runs scored, seven RBI, four doubles and three home runs across 43 plate appearances in September. Overall, he has recorded a .243/.352/.456 slash line with 70 runs scored, 57 RBI, 21 long balls and nine stolen bases in 480 plate appearances this season.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Pops 25th homer

Machado went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk, three total RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's 11-3 win over the Rockies.

This was Machado's fourth homer in the last 10 games, though he has gone just 7-for-39 (.179) in that span. The third baseman is also up to 25 long balls on the year, a mark he has reached in each of the last 10 full-length seasons. Machado would need an impressive run of power to get back to 30 homers after missing that threshold last year. He's added a .277/.338/.464 slash line with 88 RBI, 85 runs scored, 33 doubles and 13 stolen bases over 149 contests in 2025.

  • Diamondbacks' Blaze Alexander: Collects two RBI vs. Minnesota

Alexander went 2-for-5 with a two-run double during the Diamondbacks' 5-2 extra-inning win over the Twins on Saturday.

Alexander gave Arizona a three-run cushion in the 10th inning on a double to right field that brought Corbin Carroll and Gabriel Moreno home. It was a nice bounce-back performance for Alexander after he went 0-for-5 with a strikeout in Friday's series opener. He has logged at least one hit in five of his last six games and has gone 10-for-41 (.244) with seven RBI in 11 games since the start of September.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: In Saturday's lineup

Muncy (forearm) will start at third base and bat fourth against the Giants on Saturday, Kirsten Watson of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports.

Muncy was taken out of Friday's contest after getting hit on the forearm by a pitch, but the damage wasn't significant enough for him to miss a start. He'll aim to build some momentum Saturday after going 1-for-9 with two walks since his return from the IL.

  • Javier Sanoja SS | MIA

Marlins' Javier Sanoja: Late addition to lineup Saturday

Sanoja has been added to Miami's lineup against Detroit as the No. 9 hitter and third baseman Saturday.

Sanoja was originally slated to begin on the bench, but he's been called upon to start after Xavier Edwards was scratched due to right wrist discomfort. With Sanoja entering the lineup at the hot corner, Maximo Acosta is sliding over to second base.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Hit by pitch, exits game

Muncy was removed from Friday's game against the Giants after getting hit on the right forearm by a pitch, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Muncy initially remained in the game to run the bases after taking a pitch off his arm in the eighth inning but was pulled once the Dodgers' defense took the field. The severity of his injury is currently unknown, but if the Dodgers decide to sit him down for a game or two, Enrique Hernandez and Miguel Rojas would be next in line for starts at the hot corner.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Giants' Matt Chapman: Suspension appeal successful

Chapman's appeal of his one-game suspension is successful, and he will no longer have to serve the punishment, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Chapman received a suspension from MLB for pushing Kyle Freeland in a matchup with the Rockies in early September, but he'll have the suspension dropped after a successful appeal. The third baseman will take a seven-game hit streak into Friday's series opener against the Dodgers.
