  • Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Again retreats to bench

Monasterio is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals.

Monasterio started 21 straight games from Aug. 23 through Sept. 15, but he now finds himself out of the lineup for the second time in three days. Josh Donaldson will man the hot corner for a third straight game and could continue cutting into Monasterio's playing time.

  • Brett Baty 3B | NYM

Mets' Brett Baty: Idle again Monday

Baty is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Marlins.

Baty will take a seat for the fifth game in a row while he manages a left groin strain. Ronny Mauricio will pick up the start at third base in place of Baty, whom the Mets seem to be viewing as day-to-day.

  • Jonathan Arauz 3B | LAD

Mets' Jonathan Arauz: Optioned to Triple-A

Arauz was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse on Monday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Arauz is clearing out to make room for Luis Guillorme's (calf) return from the injured list. The 25-year-old has managed a lowly .491 OPS in 27 games with the big club this season.

  • Nationals' Ildemaro Vargas: On bench Monday

Vargas is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the White Sox, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.

The Nationals have been running a three-headed timeshare at third base of late, with Vargas, Carter Kieboom and Jake Alu having now made two starts apiece at the position over the past six games. Alu seems to have the most stable playing-time outlook of the three, as he'll now make his third straight start in left field in place of the slumping Travis Blankenhorn. The lack of consistent at-bats for either Vargas or Kieboom makes both players tough to rely upon, even in NL-only leagues.

  • Nick Senzel 3B | LAD

Reds' Nick Senzel: Homers in loss

Senzel went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Sunday's 8-4 loss to the Mets.

Senzel has seen an uptick in plate appearances of late, as Reds manager David Bell gets him into contests whenever a lefty is throwing -- be that a starter or reliever. He's started four of the last six and entered as a pinch hitter in the two games he did not start. The infielder/outfielder has responded well to the increased usage, posting a .391/.391/.696 slash line with two home runs over the last eight games.

  • Alec Bohm 3B | PHI

Phillies' Alec Bohm: Sends one out Sunday

Bohm went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and two runs scored in Sunday's loss to the Cardinals.

Bohm swatted his first home run since Sept. 3 with a solo blast in the eighth inning and extended his hitting streak to seven games. He has 11 hits and five RBI over those seven games and is now up to 91 RBI on the year, giving him a chance to reach 100 RBI for the first time in his career. The 26-year-old has provided a steady bat for the majority of the season, as he's now slashing .281/.337/.439 with 17 home runs, 69 runs and a 41:87 BB:K in 563 plate appearances.

  • Nick Madrigal 3B | LAA

Cubs' Nick Madrigal: Dealing with hamstring issue

Madrigal is absent from the lineup Sunday versus the Diamondbacks with a hamstring injury, Maddie Lee of The Sun Times reports.

Madrigal exited Saturday's 7-6 extra-innings loss to Arizona early with an apparent hamstring injury. Manager David Ross said Sunday that "it was just some cramping and tightness" and that Madrigal is not expected to require a stint on the injured list. The 26-year-old can be considered day-to-day for the time being with the Cubs having a day off Monday.

  • Nick Madrigal 3B | LAA

    Cubs' Nick Madrigal: Sitting Sunday

Madrigal is not in the starting lineup Sunday versus the Diamondbacks.

Madrigal will get a breather after he went 2-for-8 with a run scored over the first two games of the series. Patrick Wisdom will take over at third base and bat eighth in the series finale.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Not in Sunday's lineup

Muncy is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners.

Muncy has a 1.015 OPS during his eight-game hit streak but will hit the bench Sunday after the Dodgers clinched the NL West crown Saturday in Seattle. Chris Taylor will start at third base and bat leadoff.

  • Brett Baty 3B | NYM

Mets' Brett Baty: Still sitting Sunday

Baty (groin) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds.

The 23-year-old will sit for the third consecutive game as he continues to nurse a mild groin injury. Mark Vientos will receive another look at the hot corner in Baty's place while Brandon Nimmo rests his legs as the Mets' designated hitter.
