  • Nicky Lopez 2B | TEX

Cubs' Nicky Lopez: Dealt to Cubs

The Rockies traded Lopez to the Cubs on Thursday in exchange for cash.

Lopez has been at Triple-A Albuquerque all season and has taken advantage of the hitter-friendly environment of the Pacific Coast League to slash .333/.387/.519 with eight RBI and 11 runs scored through 62 plate appearances. He wasn't on Colorado's 40-man roster, so he won't take up a roster spot upon moving to Chicago, but he's an option to return to the majors as an infield depth piece at some point.

  • Michael Busch 1B | CHC

Cubs' Michael Busch: Homers again Thursday

Busch went 2-for-6 with a home run and four total RBI in Thursday's 8-7, 10-inning win over the Phillies.

After batting .173 with no home runs across his first 22 games of the season, Busch has gone 4-for-10 with two long balls in his last two contests. The first baseman had a breakout 2025 campaign with 34 homers, 90 RBI and a .261/.343/.523 slash line during the regular season. Busch's overall stat line is well below that pace in 2026, but he has shown some signs of life over the past two days.

  • Giants' Rafael Devers: Doubles in victory

Devers went 2-for-4 with a double in Wednesday's 3-0 win over the Dodgers.

Devers singled in the first inning and doubled in the sixth, recording at least one hit for a fifth straight game. Over that span, he's batting .304 with three RBI and two doubles in 23 plate appearances. The veteran infielder is now slashing .237/.275/.330 with nine RBI, seven runs scored and two home runs across 102 plate appearances in 24 games this season.

  • Brady House 3B | WAS

Nationals' Brady House: Out of Thursday's lineup

House is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest versus Atlanta.

House has a modest five-game hitting streak going, but he will get some rest during Thursday's matinee. Jorbit Vivas will occupy third base and bat eighth for the Nationals.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Nolan Arenado: Perfect at plate Wednesday

Arenado went 4-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, three runs scored and a walk in Wednesday's 11-7 win over the White Sox.

Arenado has five multi-hit efforts over his last eight games. He's gone 12-for-30 (.400) with four homers and 11 RBI in that span. The third baseman had a bit of a slow start to the year, but he's rounded into form. Arenado is hitting .263 with a .724 OPS, four homers, 14 RBI, 11 runs scored, two doubles and no stolen bases over 22 contests.

  • Diamondbacks' Ildemaro Vargas: Lifts pair of homers

Vargas went 2-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI in Wednesday's 11-7 win over the White Sox.

Vargas made an early impact with a three-run blast in the second inning followed by a two-run homer in the third. He's launched three homers over the last two games and has extended his season-opening hit streak to 17 contests. Vargas is batting a remarkable .364 with a 1.079 OPS, five homers, 16 RBI, 14 runs scored, five doubles, one triple and no stolen bases. He has taken over as Arizona's primary first baseman while Carlos Santana (thigh) is on the injured list, though Vargas' hot start should secure him an everyday place in the lineup for the near future, regardless of position.

  • TJ Rumfield 1B | COL

Rockies' TJ Rumfield: Knocks in two

Rumfield went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI on Wednesday against the Padres.

Rumfield drove in one run with a single in the fourth inning, and he followed that up with a run-scoring double four frames later. He's struggled mightily since a hot start to the season, collecting only eight hits across his last 51 at-bats with six RBI and one run scored. Positively, Rumfield has only struck out 16.8 percent of the time across 95 plate appearances to begin the season.

  • Michael Busch 1B | CHC

Cubs' Michael Busch: Launches first home run

Busch went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 7-2 win over the Phillies.

Busch has been off to a slow start to the season, as Wednesday's home run was his first of the year, and he's only batting .188 with a .525 OPS. Busch's struggles combined with the strong play of Nico Hoerner has allowed the latter to take over as Chicago's primary leadoff hitter. Busch can still produce from lower in the lineup, but the first baseman will need to keep producing like he did Wednesday to avoid hitting the bench on a more regular basis, particularly against lefties.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Cubs' Alex Bregman: Tallies three hits in win

Bregman went 3-for-5 with a triple and a run scored in Wednesday's 7-2 win over the Phillies.

Bregman recorded his third three-hit game of the season and also tallied his first triple since 2024 in a productive performance Wednesday. The veteran third baseman is starting to get going after a slow start to his first campaign with the Cubs. Bregman was hitting just .188 through his first 12 games of the year, but his season average is now up to .263 after batting .333 over his last 12 contests.

  • Tyler Freeman RF | COL

Rockies' Tyler Freeman: Returns to Colorado lineup

Freeman (illness) will start at designated hitter and bat cleanup in Wednesday's contest versus the Padres.

Freeman was removed from Monday's game due to an illness and didn't play Tuesday, but he'll give it a go Wednesday. The 26-year-old is slashing .294/.385/.294 with a pair of stolen bases over his first 40 plate appearances this season.
