DeJong exited Tuesday's contest against the Pirates in the top of the sixth inning after being hit in the face by a pitch, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

DeJong was struck in the left side of his face by a 92.7 mph fastball from Mitch Keller, suffering a cut beneath his eye. The 31-year-old was subsequently removed from the game, and Amed Rosario replaced him in the contest. More information will likely be provided on DeJong's status in the near future.

The Cubs optioned Shaw to Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

After beginning the season as Chicago's starting third baseman, Shaw slashed just .172/.294/.241 across 68 plate appearances over his first 18 games in the majors. The Cubs will now send him back to Triple-A to help him rediscover his swing; meanwhile, Jon Berti, Justin Turner, Vidal Brujan and Gage Workman are all candidates to see more time at the hot corner.

The Reds optioned Marte to Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old was called up last week and appeared in three games during his brief time in the majors, going 1-for-6 with a walk, a stolen base and two runs scored. Marte is heading back to the minors with Matt McLain (hamstring) making his return from the injured list Tuesday.

Arenado went 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, two total runs and two total RBI in Monday's 8-3 victory versus the Astros.

Arenado led a potent Cardinals offense that racked up eight extra-base hits against Astros pitching. Among his knocks were a seventh-inning solo homer and a fifth-inning run-scoring double. Arenado has run hot and cold this season -- he began the campaign with a nine-game hitting streak, then failed to get a hit while going 0-for-14 over his next five contests. The veteran third baseman may be in the midst of another hot streak, though, as he's gone 5-for-8 with four extra-base hits over his past two games.

Chapman went 1-for-5 with an RBI during Monday's 10-4 win over the Phillies.

The third baseman singled on a grounder to shortstop Trea Turner in the ninth inning, beating the throw to first and driving in Mike Yastrzemski for the Giants' final run. The RBI single marked Chapman's first hit since the club's win over Seattle on April 5. The 31-year-old didn't draw a walk in the victory, though he's tied for the third-highest total in the majors with 14 free passes thus far. Chapman is slashing .179/.343/.321 with two homers, two doubles, nine RBI, eight runs and a 14:19 BB:K across 70 plate appearances in 16 games.

Riley went 2-for-4 with two home runs and five RBI in Monday's win over Toronto.

Riley knocked a two-run shot in the third inning and added a three-run homer in the fifth. After starting the season in a 5-for-35 (.143) slump, the slugging third baseman has caught fire. He's gone 14-for-31 (.452) with six extra-base hits and eight RBI over his last seven games. During that span, Riley has produced six multi-hit performances.

Hayes went 2-for-4 with a steal and three RBI in Monday's 10-3 victory over the Nationals.

After getting a breather Sunday, the Pittsburgh third baseman opened the game's scoring in the first with a run-scoring single off starter Brad Lord. Hayes later plated two more on another single in the eighth inning, then stole second when on the basepaths. This performance marks the 28-year-old's first multi-hit effort since April 5 against the Yankees. Overall, Hayes is now slashing .232/.317/.339 with three steals across 63 plate appearances.

Dunn is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Tigers.

With lefty Tarik Skubal on the bump for Detroit, the left-handed-hitting Dunn will give way to platoon mate Vinny Capra at third base. Dunn has logged 28 of his 34 plate appearances against right-handed pitching this season, but he's still slashing an underwhelming .194/.212/.258 while striking out at 23.5 percent clip.

Wade is starting in center field and batting eighth against the Cubs on Monday.

Wade appears to be San Diego's top option at center field with Jackson Merrill (hamstring) and Brandon Lockridge (hamstring) both on the 10-day injured list. Wade will make his first major-league start of the season Monday after filling in as a defensive substitute twice during the weekend series against the Rockies. The 30-year-old appeared in 90 regular-season games for the Padres in 2024, slashing .217/.285/.239 with eight stolen bases, 28 runs scored and eight RBI across 155 plate appearances.

Rosario is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Pirates.

After CJ Abrams (hip) was placed on the injured list Saturday, Rosario picked up starts at third base in both of the Nationals' ensuing two games, with Paul DeJong shifting over to Abrams' spot at shortstop in both contests. DeJong will remain in the lineup Monday, but he'll be back at third base while Nasim Nunez picks up a start at shortstop. Rosario still likely stands to benefit the most from Abrams' absence, as the Nationals will presumably look to find ways to keep the 29-year-old's bat in the lineup while he's produced an .816 OPS through his first 30 plate appearances of the season.
