  • Rays' Junior Caminero: Slugs two long balls in rout

    Caminero went 4-for-5 with two home runs, two doubles, four total runs and five total RBI in a 16-3 win against the Astros on Saturday.

    Caminero put the Rays ahead for good with a 355-foot solo shot in the fourth inning and finished his big day at the plate with a three-run blast in the eighth. The talented young third baseman has been on quite a roll to end the month, racking up four home runs and 13 RBI while going 9-for-18 over his past four games. Caminero now has 13 long balls, 37 RBI, 30 runs and three stolen bases while slashing .265/.291/.512 over 223 plate appearances on the campaign.

    Angels' Yoan Moncada: Belts homer in return

    Moncada (knee) went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Saturday's 7-5 loss to the Guardians.

    Moncada returned to the Angels' lineup Saturday after missing Friday's contest due to right knee soreness. He put the Halos on the board in the third inning with a solo home run, and he came around to score in the fifth on a Mike Trout double. Moncada will end the month of May with a .253/.329/.573 slash line with six home runs and 15 RBI in 85 plate appearances.

    Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Reaches base four times

    Ramirez went 2-for-3 with two walks and a solo home run in Saturday's 7-5 win over the Angels.

    Ramirez cut the Guardians' deficit to two runs in the fifth inning, when he took Kyle Hendricks deep to right field for a 357-foot solo home run. Saturday marked Ramirez's 22nd multi-hit game of the season, 13 of which have come in the last month. He'll end the month of May with a .386/.451/.634 slash line with eight steals, eight doubles, five home runs and 14 RBI in 113 plate appearances.

    Twins' Royce Lewis: Not starting Saturday

    Lewis is not in the Twins' starting lineup against the Mariners on Saturday.

    Lewis has gone 0-for-26 over his last seven games and will begin Saturday's contest in the dugout. Brooks Lee will get the start at the hot corner and bat third.

  • Shay Whitcomb SS | HOU

    Astros' Shay Whitcomb: Joins big club

    The Astros recalled Whitcomb from Triple-A Sugar Land on Saturday.

    With Chas McCormick (oblique) moving to the injured list Saturday, the Astros will call up Whitcomb to give the team a bench bat capable of playing nearly every position. The 26-year-old has been in the minors all year, putting together a .275/.357/.599 slash line with 18 home runs, 38 RBI, 37 runs scored and six steals in 53 games.

  • Coby Mayo 3B | BAL

    Orioles' Coby Mayo: Back with big club

    The Orioles recalled Mayo from Triple-A Norfolk on Saturday. He will start at designated hitter and bat sixth Saturday against the White Sox.

    With Ryan Mountcastle (hamstring) moving to the injured list, Mayo will rejoin the active roster to give Baltimore some additional infield depth. The 23-year-old went just 1-for-12 during his previous stint in the big leagues this season and has slashed .180/.265/.328 across 61 plate appearances since being sent back down to Triple-A.

    Rangers' Josh Jung: Knocks in three

    Jung went 3-for-5 with three RBI in Friday's 11-1 win over the Cardinals.

    Jung gave the Rangers an early lead with a run-scoring single in the first inning and then drove in another two runs during the team's four-run sixth inning. He joined the eruption by a team that entered the night averaging just 2.4 runs per game over the previous 13 contests. Jung has hit safely in 10 of the last 11, going 12-for-42 (.286) with five RBI, two steals and three runs scored during that stretch.

    Orioles' Coby Mayo: Could be recalled from minors

    Mayo is on his way to Baltimore and could be recalled by the Orioles, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.

    Mayo was scratched from Triple-A Norfolk's lineup Friday so that he could head to Baltimore, but it remains uncertain whether the Orioles will officially recall him from the minor leagues. Ryan Mountcastle is dealing with hamstring discomfort, which could prompt the major-league club to enlist Mayo's services. Mayo went just 1-for-12 during a brief stint in the majors earlier this season and is only 5-for-53 for his career with the O's, but he remains one of the top prospects in Baltimore's farm system.

    Blue Jays' Addison Barger: Scores three times Friday

    Barger went 1-for-3 with two walks, a solo home run and two additional runs scored in Friday's 11-7 over the Athletics.

    Barger was brought home in the second and third frames before belting a solo home run off Grant Holman in the sixth. Barger is up to three home runs on the year and has a .869 OPS with one steal and 10 RBI over 96 plate appearances since the beginning of May.

    Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Logs four hits Friday

    Clement went 4-for-5 with a double, a solo home run and an additional run scored in Friday's 11-7 win over the Athletics.

    Clement came around to score in the second inning on a Myles Straw RBI single before belting a solo home run off Jeffrey Springs in the third. Clement has gone deep in back-to-back games and has logged all three of his home runs this season in May. He has slashed .298/.343/.457 with one steal and 12 RBI in 104 plate appearances since the beginning of May.
