  • Jake Burger 3B | TEX

White Sox's Jake Burger: Gets breather Saturday

Burger isn't starting Saturday's game against Tampa Bay, Vinnie Duber of NBC Sports Chicago reports.

Burger had started in each of the last three games, and he went 5-for-10 with a homer, four RBI, two runs and three strikeouts. Josh Harrison will return to the lineup at third base while Leury Garcia starts at the keystone.

  • Eugenio Suarez 3B | CIN

Mariners' Eugenio Suarez: Smacks second home run

Suarez went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run, an additional RBI, a run and a walk in Friday's 11-1 victory over the Astros.

Suarez contributed an RBI groundout in the fifth inning, walked and scored in the seventh and launched a three-run home run off Houston reliever Ronel Blanco in the eighth. Though the 30-year-old is batting just .192 through 26 at-bats, four of his five hits have gone for extra-bases, leading to an .800 OPS.

  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Hits two-run homer

Devers went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in Friday's loss to Minnesota.

Devers brought the Red Sox to within two in the bottom of the eighth with his shot off Jhoan Duran, but they would fail to add any more runs. The performance continued a hot start to Devers' 2022 campaign, as he's now hitting .367/.387/.667 with two homers and seven RBI through his first seven games.

  • Jake Burger 3B | TEX

White Sox's Jake Burger: Goes yard Friday

Burger went 2-for-3 with a homer and two RBI in Friday's 3-2 win over the Rays.

Burger hammered a 430-foot solo shot off Drew Rasmussen in the third inning and then tagged him with an RBI single in the fifth. The 26-year-old is batting .375 with two extra-base hits through 16 at-bats so far this season. He should continue seeing somewhat regular action at least until Yoan Moncada (oblique) returns from the injured list.

  • Joe Perez 3B | PIT

Astros' Joe Perez: Joins big-league roster

Perez was called up by the Astros on Friday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Perez has never played a game at the Triple-A level, but this is already his second major-league call-up of the season. He spent two days on the roster during the first series of the season while Yuli Gurriel was on the paternity list and will now replace Yordan Alvarez, who landed on the COVID-19 injured list in a corresponding move. Perez made a single pinch-hit appearance in his previous stint on the roster and is likely in line for similar usage this time around.

  • Jake Burger 3B | TEX

White Sox's Jake Burger: Drives in one

Burger went 1-for-3 with an RBI in Thursday's loss to the Mariners.

Burger was fortunate to tally an RBI as he popped up with a runner on third base in the fifth inning, though it fell in after wind moved the ball significantly. While that wasn't a particularly well-struck ball, Burger has recorded three hits, two RBI and a run scored across his last two starts. Burger has begun the season in a part-time role at third base, though he could pick up additional playing time if Josh Harrison (back) remains out of the lineup.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Blue Jays' Matt Chapman: Not starting Thursday

Chapman isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Yankees.

Chapman started in each of the first six games of the season and hit .190 with a homer, a double, four RBI and two walks. Santiago Espinal will take his place at the hot corner while Cavan Biggio starts at second base Thursday.

  • Taylor Walls 3B | TB

Rays' Taylor Walls: Picks up start versus lefty

Walls will start at third base and bat ninth in Thursday's game against the Athletics, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Walls will pick up his third start in four games, but he still looks to be a short-side platoon player who plays only occasionally against right-handers. With southpaw Cole Irvin on the mound for Oakland on Thursday, Walls will enter the lineup as an indirect replacement for the lefty-hitting Ji-Man Choi.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Homers, stays hot at plate

Ramirez went 3-for-4 with a two run home run and three RBI in the win over the Reds on Wednesday.

Ramirez got hit by a Nick Lodolo curveball with the bases loaded in the top of the second inning, driving in Austin Hedges. The third baseman later took Lodolo deep in the fourth inning, driving in two more runs. Ramirez is now up to three homers and an eye-popping 14 RBI through six contests this season. Now locked up with a long-term contract with the Guardians, the 29-year-old appears to be setting the groundwork for another MVP-caliber season in 2022.

  • Abraham Toro 1B | BOS

Mariners' Abraham Toro: Gets third straight start

Toro will start at second base and bat leadoff Wednesday against the White Sox, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Toro doesn't have a clear path to an everyday role, but his ability to swing between second and third base will allow him to pick up his third consecutive start. He'll be filling in at the keystone Wednesday for the lefty-hitting Adam Frazier, who is taking a seat with southpaw Dallas Keuchel on the mound for Chicago.
