  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Blue Jays' Matt Chapman: Clubs 15th homer

Chapman went 3-for-4 with a three-run home run in Friday's 8-1 win over the Royals.

The third baseman took Carlos Hernandez deep in the fifth inning to blow open what had been a 4-1 game. Chapman has gone yard in back-to-back games and four of his last nine, giving him 15 homers on the season. He's batting .333 (11-for-33) over that nine-game stretch in what could be a sign of things to come -- his .257 xBA and .515 xSLG are well above his actual .226 and .428 marks.

  • Ramon Urias 3B | STL

Orioles' Ramon Urias: Goes deep twice

Urias went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI in Friday's 5-4 loss to Tampa Bay.

The 28-year-old took Luis Patino deep for a solo shot in the fourth inning and added a two-run shot in the eighth off Colin Poche. In 10 games since returning from the injured list, Urias is 12-for-31 (.387) with 11 RBI and three homers, improving his season slash line to .250/.299/.431 with 19 extra-base hits through 222 plate appearances.

  • Jake Burger 1B | TEX

White Sox's Jake Burger: Rehab delayed by illness

Burger (hand) won't begin his rehab assignment Friday as previously reported, as he's come down with an illness, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Burger was supposed to start working his way back from a bruised right hand with Triple-A Charlotte but will wait at least one more day to do so. It already seemed likely that the White Sox would wait to activate him until the beginning of the second half, so this delay may not actually affect his ultimate return date unless the illness winds up costing him more than a day or two.

  • Gio Urshela 3B | MIN

Twins' Gio Urshela: Not in Friday's lineup

Urshela isn't starting Friday against the Reds.

  • Tigers' Jeimer Candelario: Sitting Friday

Candelario isn't starting Friday's game against the Guardians.

Candelario will get a breather after he went 1-for-5 with a walk and two strikeouts over the last two games. Willi Castro is starting at the hot corner and batting sixth.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Unavailable with hand injury

Donaldson (hand) is not in the starting lineup Friday against the Red Sox.

Donaldson was hit by a pitch Thursday during a pinch hit at-bat, forcing him to exit the contest. The injury will cause him to miss Friday's game and he remains day-to-day for the time being. DJ LeMahieu will start at third base and bat leadoff versus Boston.

  • Jake Burger 1B | TEX

White Sox's Jake Burger: Begins rehab assignment

Burger (hand) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte on Friday, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Burger has been out with a bone bruise in his right hand. He'll be eligible to return Saturday, but the White Sox may elect to keep him on the injured list until after the All-Star break to buy him some extra time to heal.

  • Taylor Walls SS | TB

Rays' Taylor Walls: Not in Friday's lineup

Walls isn't starting Friday against the Orioles.

Walls is in the midst of a three-game hitting streak in which he's gone 4-for-10 with a homer, a double, four runs, three RBI and a strikeout. He'll get a breather while Yu Chang takes over at shortstop.

  • Jonah Bride 3B | TEX

Athletics' Jonah Bride: Productive in first two rehab games

Bride (shoulder) has gone 2-for-5 with a double, three walks and a run across his first two rehab games with Triple-A Las Vegas while filling the designated hitter role.

Bride logged a full complement of plate appearances during the pair of contests, and he doesn't appear to have suffered any setbacks with his previously ailing shoulder. The rookie has been sidelined since June 28, and it remains to be seen if the Athletics will opt to activate him at some point this weekend or wait until after the All-Star break.

  • Eugenio Suarez DH | CIN

Mariners' Eugenio Suarez: On base thrice in win

Suarez went 1-for-3 with a two-run single and two walks in a win over the Rangers on Thursday.

The veteran slugger got it done with some small ball Thursday, with his two-run single in the seventh inning igniting a comeback from a 5-1 deficit. Suarez's busy night was par for the course in what has been a highly productive July, as he's now carrying a .286/.400/.524 slash line across 50 plate appearances over 12 games during the month.
