DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY
Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Planned day off
LeMahieu's absence from the lineup Thursday against the Athletics was planned to manage a previous toe injury, Sonja Chen of MLB.com reports.
Giancarlo Stanton returned to the lineup Thursday, which crowded the Yankees' lineup. LeMahieu was the odd-man out, though it was later clarified to be a maintenance day. He returned to the lineup Aug. 18 after missing three games due to inflammation in his right big toe, so the Yankees are taking a cautious approach to his workload.

Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA
White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Exits with hamstring tightness
Moncada exited Thursday's game against the Orioles with tightness in his left hamstring.
Moncada made a strong defensive play early on in the matchup, though he came up limping afterward. He managed to remain in the game for several innings but was ultimately lifted in the fifth. Given the number of lower-body injuries that Moncada has dealt with this season, this is a concerning development.

DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY
Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Sitting in Stanton's return
LeMahieu is not in Thursday's lineup against the Blue Jays.
The Yankees' lineup got more crowded with the return of Giancarlo Stanton, forcing LeMahieu to the bench. LeMahieu likely won't consistently be the odd-man out due to his defensive versatility, but Gleyber Torres will get the nod at second base Thursday against the Jays.

Taylor Walls 3B | TB
Rays' Taylor Walls: Day off Thursday
Walls is not in the starting lineup against the Angels on Thursday, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
Walls will take a seat after he went 2-for-10 with three RBI and a run scored while starting the first three games of the series. Yu Chang will take over at shortstop and bat eighth in the series finale.

Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE
Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Crushes two homers
Ramirez went 3-for-3 with two home runs, three RBI and a walk in Wednesday's 7-0 win over the Padres.
Ramirez hit solo shots in the first and fourth innings off Padres starter Blake Snell and added a sacrifice fly in the seventh. It's been a week of milestones for Ramirez, who logged his 100th RBI of the year in Tuesday's contest and reached the 25-homer mark Wednesday. For the season, the third baseman is slashing .285/.355/.551 with 103 RBI, 69 runs scored and 14 stolen bases through 510 plate appearances. He's hitting .275 (22-for-80) with seven extra-base hits in August.

Isaac Paredes 3B | HOU
Rays' Isaac Paredes: Five-game starting run ends
Paredes is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
The righty-hitting Paredes started in each of the previous five games, but three came with the opposition bringing lefties to the hill. Paredes' ability to play first base, third base and second base will allow him to receive occasional opportunities against right-handed pitching, but Ji-Man Choi, Yandy Diaz, Taylor Walls and Brandon Lowe are the primary candidates to fill out the four infield spots in those matchups.

Matt Chapman 3B | SF
Blue Jays' Matt Chapman: On base three times against BoSox
Chapman went 2-for-4 with a walk, a triple, a run scored and an RBI in Tuesday's 9-3 win over the Red Sox.
The veteran third baseman put together his first multi-hit effort since Aug. 8 as he continues to underperform his metrics. Chapman is sitting in the 96th percentile in the league in average exit velocity and 94th percentile in barrel rate, but all he has to show for it is a .236/.315/.467 slash line. His numbers have been even worse in August -- .174/.260/.391 through 19 games -- but half his 12 hits on the month have gone for extra bases, including four of his 24 homers on the year.

Alex Bregman 3B | CHC
Astros' Alex Bregman: Hits two-run shot
Bregman went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in a 4-2 win over the Twins on Tuesday.
Bregman powered the Astros to victory with his 19th home run of the season as part of a three-hit effort. Bregman has been red hot lately and is slashing an incredible .378/.453/.730 this month. The 28-year-old third baseman is well on pace to break the 20-homer mark for the first time since 2019, when he belted 41 long balls.

Taylor Walls 3B | TB
Rays' Taylor Walls: Drives in two, scores once
Walls went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored Tuesday against the Angels.
Walls delivered a single in the seventh inning and came around to score in the same frame to account for his production. The effort was only his third-multi hit game since the All-Star break, and Walls has hit just .190 -- albeit while generating a .333 on-base percentage -- with eight RBI and 13 runs scored across 29 games in that span. He figures to remain the Rays' primary shortstop until Wander Franco (wrist) is able to return.

Eugenio Suarez 3B | CIN
Mariners' Eugenio Suarez: Keeps slugging Tuesday
Suarez went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run and a walk in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Nationals.
Suarez has gone 7-for-28 (.250) in his last nine games, but he's also supplied five homers and 12 RBI in that span. The power-hitting third baseman is up to 23 long balls, 71 RBI, 60 runs scored and a .228/.333/.442 slash line through 122 contests this season. He should continue to see a near-everyday role in the middle third of the Mariners' lineup.
