  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Angels' Anthony Rendon: Back in action Sunday

Rendon (thumb) will start at third base and bat cleanup in Sunday's game against the Rangers, Sarah Valenzuela of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Rendon will return to the fray after he sat out Saturday's 10-1 loss with a sore thumb, which he suffered during a collision with teammate Matt Thaiss in Friday's 5-4 win. With Rendon back in the fold, Gio Urshela will shift from third base to shortstop for the series finale.

  • Nick Maton DH | CHW

Tigers' Nick Maton: Out against lefty

Maton is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

For the second time in the series, the lefty-hitting Maton will retreat to the bench while the Cardinals bring a southpaw (Steven Matz) to the hill. Andy Ibanez will spell Maton at third base and will bat fifth.

  • Jace Peterson SS | ARI

Athletics' Jace Peterson: Sits for series finale

Peterson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals.

The lefty-hitting Peterson will see his streak of eight consecutive starts come to an end while the Royals bring a southpaw (Ryan Yarbrough) to the hill for the series finale. Kevin Smith will replace Peterson at third base and will bat eighth.

  • Oswald Peraza 2B | LAA

Yankees' Oswald Peraza: On bench again Sunday

Peraza (ankle) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Peraza hasn't made any appearances for the Yankees since spraining his right ankle in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Guardians, but manager Aaron Boone said the rookie will be an option off the bench Sunday, according to Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News. The 22-year-old infielder has been a part-time player for the Yankees since his April 16 call-up, so his absence hasn't necessarily opened up steady playing time for any one player.

  • Taylor Walls SS | TB

Rays' Taylor Walls: On bench for series finale

Walls is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.

While moving between three positions (second base, third base and shortstop), Walls had started in six of the Rays' last seven games. He doesn't have a clear path to an everyday role at any one position, but Walls' versatility, slick glove, improved plate skills and ability to contribute as a baserunner should continue to allow him to pick up a handful of starts per week.

  • Royals' Maikel Garcia: Swipes bag in loss

Garcia went 1-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's 5-4 loss to the Athletics.

Garcia continues to find a place in the lineup, and he's gone 7-for-19 (.368) while hitting safely in each of his five games since he was called up from Triple-A Omaha. The natural shortstop has seen most of his playing time at third base, though he also picked up a game at shortstop. He hit fifth in Saturday's contest after staying in the bottom half of the order initially, but it's too soon to tell if he's earned a more attractive slot in the lineup. Garcia has four RBI, three runs scored, two stolen bases and two doubles through 22 plate appearances.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Angels' Anthony Rendon: Out with sore thumb

Rendon, who is out of Saturday's lineup against the Rangers, is dealing with a sore thumb after colliding with Matt Thaiss in Friday's game, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.

It sounds like a very minor issue, with the Angels giving Rendon his scheduled off day Saturday instead of Sunday as originally planned, per manager Phil Nevin. Gio Urshela and Jake Lamb are handling the infield corners.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Angels' Anthony Rendon: Out of Saturday's lineup

Rendon is not in Saturday's lineup against the Rangers, Sarah Valenzuela of the Los Angeles Times reports.

The veteran third baseman has been hot at the plate, hitting .351 with nine runs and five RBI over his last 10 games. Rendon is still searching for his first long ball of the season.

  • Ramon Urias 3B | STL

Orioles' Ramon Urias: Starting at first base

Urias is getting his first start of the season at first base while batting ninth Saturday against Atlanta, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

It's not a good day to use Urias in fantasy, as Baltimore will be facing Spencer Strider while hitting at the bottom of the lineup. However, adding first base to his repertoire could buy him more starts over the rest of the season. Prior to Saturday, Urias had only ever played the other three non-catcher infield positions in the big leagues, but he did get reps at first base during spring training.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Could begin rehab assignment soon

Donaldson (hamstring) will ramp up baseball activity during the upcoming homestand and could soon begin a rehab assignment, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

It sounds like Donaldson is ahead of Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) in his recovery. If he can avoid setbacks, a return in the middle of May seems feasible.
