Tyler Nevin 3B | ATH
Tigers' Tyler Nevin: Called up from Triple-A
Detroit recalled Nevin from Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday.
Before suffering an oblique injury in early March and beginning the season on the injured list, Nevin appeared to have a good chance at making the Tigers' Opening Day roster. He'll now get the opportunity to join the big club, as he was called up after starting pitcher Matt Manning (foot) was placed on the injured list in a corresponding move. A career .205/.312/.292 hitter in the big leagues, Nevin could get a look in an everyday role at third base if Detroit shifts Nick Maton to second base, a position where the team has struggled to get production thus far in 2023.

Kyle Farmer 3B | ATL
Twins' Kyle Farmer: Needs dental surgery
Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said after Wednesday's 3-1 win over the White Sox that Farmer will need surgery to realign his teeth, John Shipley of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Farmer avoided a fractured jaw after getting struck in the face by a Lucas Giolito pitch in the fourth inning of Wednesday's contest, but he's going to need extended time off following the dental procedure. Kyle Garlick could be called up from Triple-A St. Paul ahead of Thursday's game against the Yankees with the likelihood that Farmer is placed on the 10-day injured list. Farmer had been getting regular playing time as a utility infielder in the early part of the season while batting .226 with a .641 OPS through 35 plate appearances.

Twins' Kyle Farmer: Early signs good after HBP
Farmer appears to have avoided a fractured jaw after getting hit by a pitch Wednesday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Farmer took a Lucas Giolito delivery to the face in the fourth inning of Wednesay's game against the White Sox. He has a laceration and needs dental work, per Hayes, but the early indications are that no bones were broken. It's unclear whether the infielder will require an IL stint.

Zack Gelof 2B | ATH
Athletics' Zack Gelof: Returning from IL
Triple-A Las Vegas reinstated Gelof (shoulder) from its 7-day injured list Wednesday.
Gelof missed less than two weeks to begin the Triple-A season while recovering from a left shoulder strain suffered in spring training. One of the Athletics' top position prospects, Gelof should have a good chance at making his MLB debut later in 2023 if he can keep his strikeouts in check at Triple-A. Following a late-season call-up from Double-A Midland, Gelof bashed five home runs in nine games for Las Vegas, but he struck out in 11 of his 38 plate appearances (28.9 percent).

Nick Maton DH | CHW
Tigers' Nick Maton: Batting second Wednesday
Maton will start at second base and bat second Wednesday versus the Blue Jays.
Maton hit a three-run homer in Tuesday's loss at Toronto, providing all of the Tigers' scoring on the night. He has one other extra-base hit this season -- a double -- but is slashing just .120/.290/.280 through 31 plate appearances. Even in a good situation for regular playing time with Detroit, the versatile 26-year-old doesn't offer much fantasy upside at the moment.

Taylor Walls 3B | TB
Rays' Taylor Walls: Back in action
Walls (elbow) will start at third base and bat seventh in Wednesday's game against the Red Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Walls hasn't played since last Friday due to tendinitis in his left (non-throwing) elbow, but he's ready to go now. The 26-year-old is hitting .333 over 18 at-bats through seven games this season.

Kyle Farmer 3B | ATL
Twins' Kyle Farmer: Exits with jaw injury
Farmer was diagnosed with a jaw injury after exiting in the bottom of the fourth inning of Wednesday's game against the White Sox.
After striking out in his first plate appearance of the afternoon, Farmer stepped to the batter's box for the second time in the fourth and was struck in the face by a pitch from Lucas Giolito. Willi Castro pinch ran for the 32-year-old and remained in the game for the subsequent half inning. Farmer, who was making his seventh start in a row for an injury-ravaged Twins squad, should be considered day-to-day until the team provides more updates on his status.

Kyle Farmer 3B | ATL
Twins' Kyle Farmer: Leaves game after HBP to face
Farmer was removed from Wednesday's game against the White Sox after being hit in the face by a pitch, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Farmer was struck by a Lucas Giolito offering in the bottom of the fourth inning. He was down on the field for a bit but eventually walked off under his own power. Farmer is surely headed for testing.

DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY
Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Out with quad tightness
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said LeMahieu is out of the lineup for Wednesday's tilt against the Guardians due to quadricep tightness, Brendan Kuty of The Athletic reports.
LeMahieu initially looked like he was getting a day off Wednesday for routine maintenance, but Boone clarified that the infielder is day-to-day with an injury. Isiah Kiner-Falefa gets the start at the hot corner Wednesday, and he'll likely see the bulk of the reps at third base if LeMahieu misses additional contests.

DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY
Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: On bench Wednesday
LeMahieu is not in the starting lineup Wednesday versus the Guardians, Pete Caldera of The Bergen Record reports.
LeMahieu will take a seat after he went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk and two runs scored in Tuesday's victory. Isiah Kiner-Falefa will take over at third base and bat seventh against Cleveland.
