  • Isaac Paredes 3B | HOU

Rays' Isaac Paredes: Getting breather Sunday

Paredes is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles.

Paredes will not start for the first time since May 13 against the Red Sox. Over the first two games of the series, the 24-year-old has gone 0-for-7 with two strikeouts. Jose Caballero will shift over to third base Sunday, while Taylor Walls starts at shortstop against Orioles right-hander Grayson Rodriguez.

  • Royce Lewis 3B | MIN

    Twins' Royce Lewis: Sitting Sunday

Lewis is out of the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Pirates.

Lewis will begin Sunday's game in the dugout after going 1-for-8 with three strikeouts over the first two games of the series. The 24-year-old third baseman came off the injured list Tuesday after missing almost 10 weeks due to a strained right quadriceps, so the fact that he'll get a rest day Sunday doesn't come as a major surprise. Jose Miranda will start at third base Sunday, while Trevor Larnach serves as the designated hitter against Pirates right-hander Jared Jones.

  • Royals' Maikel Garcia: Registers 15th steal

Garcia went 1-for-4 with a walk, a stolen base and two runs scored in Saturday's 8-4 win over the Mariners.

Garcia has two steals over his last four games, and he's gone 9-for-35 (.257) across his last eight contests. The third baseman has yet to be caught stealing this season -- he's one of three players with at least 10 steals who has yet to be caught. He's posted a .260/.310/.389 slash line with 15 thefts, five home runs, 36 RBI, 43 runs scored, 13 doubles and three triples over 63 games this season.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Smacks 18th long ball

Ramirez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional run scored and a walk in Saturday's 8-0 win over the Marlins.

Ramirez has gone 6-for-22 (.273) with two homers and four RBI over six games in June. The third baseman opened the scoring Saturday with a first-inning solo shot off Miami starter Roddery Munoz. For the year, Ramirez is slashing .272/.335/.553 with 18 homers, 61 RBI, 49 runs scored, nine stolen bases, 13 doubles and a triple over 62 contests.

  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Won't play Sunday

Devers was removed from Saturday's 6-1 loss to the White Sox with left knee soreness and won't play in Sunday's series finale, Sean McAdam of MassLive.com reports. He went 0-for-2 with a walk before exiting.

Manager Alex Cora said postgame that Devers reported soreness in his left knee -- the same knee that forced Devers to miss nearly a week in late April -- which led to Devers' removal in the eighth inning. Cora will play it safe with the star third baseman, giving him a day off Sunday. The Red Sox have a team off day Monday, so Devers' return to the lineup would come Tuesday against Philadelphia at the earliest.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Angels' Anthony Rendon: Fields grounders Friday

Rendon (hamstring) progressed to taking groundballs Friday, per MLB.com.

Rendon resumed baseball activities earlier in the week, making throws and taking swings in the batting cages. His ability Friday to take grounders -- albeit only on balls that were hit right at him in order to avoid lateral movement -- was another sign of progress, and Rendon is expected to put his strained left hamstring to an even bigger test by jogging Saturday. Rendon remains weeks away from a return, but it's now feasible that he could be back with the Angels by the end of June.

  • Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Mashes homer No. 10

Westburg went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 6-3 win over the Rays.

The 25-year-old took Chris Devenski deep in the eighth inning to give Baltimore some insurance runs. Westburg is batting .298 (14-for-47) over his last 12 games, boosting his slash line on the season to .280/.336/.495 with 10 homers, six steals, 32 runs and 38 RBI in 58 contests.

  • Taylor Walls 3B | TB

Rays' Taylor Walls: Two hits in return

Walls went 2-for-4 on Friday against the Orioles.

Walls made his season debut after missing the first two months while recovering from hip surgery. He hit seventh in the order and started at shortstop, shifting Jose Caballero to second base and Brandon Lowe to the bench with lefty Cole Irvin on the mound for the O's. It's unclear whether Walls will be able to earn much playing time against right-handed pitching.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Astros' Alex Bregman: Not slowed by brief absence

Bregman went 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored Friday against the Angels.

Bregman returned to the lineup after a one-game absence caused by a hand injury. He extended his hitting streak to nine games in his return Friday, and he's gone 14-for-35 with five homers, eight RBI and 10 runs scored in that span.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Astros' Alex Bregman: Back in lineup Friday

Bregman (hand) is starting at third base and batting second in Friday's series opener against the Angels, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Bregman injured his left hand against the Cardinals on Tuesday after being hit by a pitch in the first inning. X-rays came back negative, but the Astros opted to scratch Bregman from Wednesday's lineup to give the 30-year-old additional rest. Over his last 10 games, Bregman has gone 14-for-39 with five home runs and eight RBI.
