Astros' Alex Bregman: Back in lineup Friday
Bregman (hand) is starting at third base and batting second in Friday's series opener against the Angels, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Bregman injured his left hand against the Cardinals on Tuesday after being hit by a pitch in the first inning. X-rays came back negative, but the Astros opted to scratch Bregman from Wednesday's lineup to give the 30-year-old additional rest. Over his last 10 games, Bregman has gone 14-for-39 with five home runs and eight RBI.

Rangers' Davis Wendzel: Recalled from Triple-A
The Rangers recalled Wendzel from Triple-A Round Rock on Friday, Jeff Wilson of RangersToday.com reports.
Corey Seager is day-to-day with a hamstring injury, so the Rangers will bring Wendzel up from the minors to provide some infield depth. The 27-year-old was optioned to Round Rock in May after going just 2-for-29 in 17 big-league games, but he's since slashed .250/.364/.386 across 55 plate appearances in Triple-A. Derek Hill was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

The Rays activated Walls (hip) from the 60-day injured list Friday, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.
Walls has been out all season following offseason hip surgery and had his recovery delayed due to inflammation in the hip. However, he recently got back up to speed during a five-game rehab stint with Triple-A Durham, going 8-for-21 at the plate. Walls could take some playing time away from Jose Caballero at shortstop while working in a utility role.

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Homers in loss
Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and a walk in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Royals.
Ramirez entered Thursday with no homers over his last five games, matching his longest drought since he went eight contests from April 26 to May 4 without a long ball. The third baseman upped his power in late May and is now at 17 homers this season, with eight of them coming since May 17. He's added a stellar .276/.335/.552 slash line with 60 RBI, 47 runs scored, nine stolen bases, 13 doubles and one triple over 60 contests.

Angels' Anthony Rendon: Considers himself ahead of schedule
Rendon (hamstring) resumed baseball activities this week and said Wednesday that he thinks he's ahead of schedule in progressing toward a return, per MLB.com.
Rendon has been out since April 20 due to a left hamstring strain, but he recently began ramping up his activity by throwing and taking swings in a batting cage. The third baseman will next progress to jogging Saturday, which will be a significant test of the injured hamstring. While Rendon remains weeks away from a return, he indicated that he considers himself ahead of schedule, explaining, "I'm trying to push it each and every day. Let my body tell me that it's painful, it hurts or it's not ready. So we'll get back as soon as possible."

Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Gets rest during blowout
Devers was replaced by a pinch hitter during the seventh inning of Thursday's game against the White Sox, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.
Devers exited with the Red Sox up 11-0 to get some extra rest, and he went 1-for-4 with a run scored prior to hitting the bench. He now has a six-game hitting streak, during which he's gone 8-for-23 with three homers, six RBI and seven runs scored.

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Day off amid power outage
LeMahieu is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Twins.
LeMahieu has now started seven of nine games since his return from the injured list but has gone just 4-for-22 with no extra-base hits during that stretch. Oswaldo Cabrera will get the call at third base for the Yankees on Thursday.

Lewis will get a breather Thursday after hitting a home run in each of his first two games since returning from the injured list Tuesday. Jose Miranda will take over at the hot corner, allowing Carlos Santana to start at first base.

Rojas is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Athletics.
The lefty-hitting Rojas will exit the starting nine while the Athletics bring southpaw JP Sears to the hill. Dylan Moore started at second base in Seattle's last two games but will shift over to third base Thursday while Rojas takes a seat.
