  • Lenyn Sosa 2B | TOR

White Sox's Lenyn Sosa: Sitting Thursday

Sosa isn't in the White Sox's lineup Thursday against the Mariners.

Sosa went 2-for-12 across the first three games of Chicago's series against the Mariners, and he'll now sit down for the finale while Danny Mendick starts at third base and bats ninth.

  • Tigers' Justyn-Henry Malloy: Homers, drives in three

Malloy went 2-for-3 with a home run, double and three RBI during Thursday's 7-2 win against the Nationals.

Malloy's second career homer came with two outs in the sixth and broke a 1-1 tie while his seventh-inning double drove in two and provided the Tigers with their winning margin. The 24-year-old rookie, who was also hit by a pitch in his first at-bat, entered the game with just three hits in his first 20 big-league at-bats but has now reached base 11 times in 29 plate appearances since he debuted June 3.

  • Zach McKinstry 3B | DET

Tigers' Zach McKinstry: Moves to bench against lefty

McKinstry is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals.

Since Javier Baez sat out Sunday's 10-2 win over the Brewers before being placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with lumbar spine inflammation, McKinstry and Ryan Kreidler have both picked up a pair of starts at shortstop. Though manager A.J. Hinch suggested that the two shortstops wouldn't work in a strict platoon, both of McKinstry's starts have come against right-handed pitching. Kreidler, meanwhile, will start at shortstop Thursday versus lefty Patrick Corbin, after Kreidler was previously included in the lineup Tuesday, when southpaw Mitchell Parker was on the bump for Washington.

  • Ramon Urias 3B | STL

Orioles' Ramon Urias: Retreating to bench Thursday

Urias is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against Atlanta.

Urias had started in each of the past four games, but two came while Jorge Mateo was out with a concussion and one came while Jordan Westburg received a rest day. Mateo and Westburg are both in the lineup Thursday and are slated to serve as the Orioles' primary starters at second base and third base, respectively, so Urias' opportunities could become more limited moving forward.

  • Taylor Walls 3B | TB

Rays' Taylor Walls: Swipes first bag

Walls went 0-for-2 with two walks, a stolen base and a run scored Wednesday against the Cubs.

Walls has started five of six games since being activated from the injured list, though he's collected just two hits in 14 at-bats. Positively, he stole his first base of the season Wednesday, suggesting he'll still be willing to run even after returning from a serious hip injury.

  • Royce Lewis 3B | MIN

Twins' Royce Lewis: Homer, three hits in win

Lewis went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer, a double and three total runs scored in Wednesday's 17-9 win over the Rockies.

Lewis made his presence felt in Minnesota's 24-hit outburst -- he was one of eight Twins to record two or more hits, including a two-run homer off Angel Chivilli to extend the lead to 10-3. Since returning from a 10-week stint on the IL with a quad injury, Lewis has gone 9-for-28 (.321) with four homers and seven RBI across eight games.

  • Jon Berti 3B | CHC

Yankees' Jon Berti: Shifts to 60-day IL

The Yankees transferred Berti (calf) to the 60-day injured list Wednesday.

Berti was given a recovery timeline of 6-to-8 weeks after he suffered a high-grade left calf strain in late May, so the move to the 60-day IL will move back his minimum absence only a couple weeks. DJ LeMahieu is operating as New York's primary third baseman while Oswaldo Cabrera serves as a reserve infielder.

  • Tigers' Justyn-Henry Malloy: Gets first day off since call-up

Malloy is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals.

Malloy had started at designated hitter or in left field in each of the Tigers' seven games since his June 3 call-up, going 3-for-19 with a home run and a 5:8 BB:K. Though his .636 OPS thus far in his MLB career isn't anything special, the Tigers likely aren't ready to pull the plug on Malloy as an everyday player just yet. With Malloy on the bench Wednesday, the Tigers will give Riley Greene a day off in the outfield and have him serve as the team's DH.

  • Ramon Urias 3B | STL

Orioles' Ramon Urias: Drawing fourth straight start

Urias will start at third base and bat seventh in Wednesday's game against Atlanta.

Urias will stick in the starting nine for the fourth game in a row, but his playing time should begin to trend down after Jorge Mateo returned from the 7-day injured list Tuesday. Though Mateo will occupy the keystone Wednesday, Urias will maintain a spot in the infield since everyday third baseman Jordan Westburg will get a rare day off.

  • Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Getting rest Wednesday

Westburg is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta.

Westburg will retreat to the bench Wednesday for what appears to be a routine maintenance day after he had started in 11 consecutive games. His absence will open up a spot in the starting nine for Ramon Urias, who will get the nod at third base.
