  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Notches first four-hit game

Holliday went 4-for-5 with a triple, three runs scored and an RBI in Friday's 12-10 loss to the Red Sox.

The Baltimore rookie collected his first career four-hit performance that included his first major-league triple, and he scored a career-high three runs. Since being recalled July 31, Holliday has batted .286 (16-for-35) with five homers, 13 runs scored and 14 RBI across 15 games. The 20-year-old should continue to play every day at second base for the Orioles as the team marches to the postseason and could move up in a potent batting order if he remains hot -- Holliday has yet to hit higher than sixth in the majors.

  • Angels' Brandon Drury: Absent from lineup

Drury is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against Atlanta, per MLB.com.

Drury will sit for a second straight game. He's struggled at the plate since the All-Star break, slashing .127/.260/.143 with four RBI across 73 plate appearances. Michael Stefanic will start at second base and bat ninth against Atlanta right-hander Spencer Schwellenbach.

  • Willi Castro 2B | COL

Twins' Willi Castro: Not in Friday's lineup

Castro is absent from the lineup for Friday's game versus the Rangers.

It's a rare day off for Castro, who had started every game so far this month. Kyle Farmer and Edouard Julien will form the double-play combination for the Twins.

  • Colt Keith 3B | DET

Tigers' Colt Keith: Experiencing hamstring soreness

Keith was deemed day-to-day Friday with left hamstring soreness stemming from a cramp he felt Thursday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

He was held out of the Tigers lineup Friday and was described as "banged up" by manager A.J. Hinch, but the team doesn't seem worried that Keith is dealing with anything serious. Zach McKinstry is starting at second base Friday.

  • Nick Sogard 2B | BOS

Red Sox's Nick Sogard: Back in lineup Friday

Sogard (calf) will start at second base and bat seventh in Friday's game in Baltimore.

Sogard exited Wednesday's game versus the Rangers after fouling a ball off his calf and didn't play in the series opener against the Orioles on Thursday. However, he's feeling well enough to give it a go in this one.

  • Tommy Edman LF | LAD

Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Aiming for season debut Monday

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said on MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM Friday that the hope is Edman (wrist/ankle) will be ready for activation from the 60-day injured list Monday.

Acquired from the Cardinals at the trade deadline, Edman has been out all season recovering from wrist surgery and more recently an ankle sprain, but his Dodgers debut is on the horizon. Edman is 5-for-15 with one home run and a 1:3 K:BB in five rehab games with Triple-A Oklahoma City. He's expected to see the bulk of his action in center field for the Dodgers, but Edman also made a start at shortstop at OKC this week and offers the versatility to play multiple spots if needed.

  • Colt Keith 3B | DET

    Tigers' Colt Keith: Resting Friday

Keith is "banged up a little bit" according to manager A.J. Hinch and is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Yankees, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

After starting seven consecutive games, Keith will get the night off to rest and recover. This late in the season, it's not abnormal for players to be dealing with minor aches and pains, as seems to be the case with Keith. Zach McKinstry will bat seventh and play second base for Friday's series opener.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

    Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Idle Friday

Marte (ankle) is absent from the starting nine for Friday's game against the Rays.

Marte was diagnosed with a low-grade ankle sprain Tuesday and will spend Friday's series opener on the bench. The second baseman hasn't started and finished a game since Aug. 8, but the Diamondbacks don't believe he will require an IL stint. Blaze Alexander will bat ninth and play the keystone Friday. Per Jody Jackson of Bally Sports Arizona, Marte said Friday that he's feeling better and could be in the lineup Saturday.

  • Jace Jung DH | DET

Tigers' Jace Jung: Officially added to roster

The Tigers selected Jung's contract from Triple-A Toledo on Friday.

The first-round pick is set to make his major-league debut after hitting .257/.377/.454 with 14 home runs and 60 RBI over 414 plate appearances this season with Toledo. A left-handed batter, Jung will be the Tigers' primary third baseman versus righties, but it's unclear whether the team also plans to play him regularly against southpaws.

  • Luis Guillorme 3B | HOU

Angels' Luis Guillorme: Exits 40-man roster

The Angels designated Guillorme for assignment Friday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Guillorme slashed .231/.302/.298 with just three RBI in 50 games for the Angels. The veteran utility player will likely clear waivers given his $1.1 million salary, but he should be able to eventually latch on with another club looking for a versatile infielder.
