  • Tommy Edman 2B | LAD

Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Not in Saturday's lineup

Edman isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game versus the Giants, Kirsten Watson of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports.

Edman will retreat to the bench after going 1-for-8 with a run scored in two games since his return from the injured list. While he rests, Miguel Rojas will start at second base, and Michael Conforto, Andy Pages and Teoscar Hernandez will patrol the outfield.

  • Hye Seong Kim 2B | LAD

Dodgers' Hyeseong Kim: Sitting in fourth straight

Kim isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against San Francisco, Kirsten Watson of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports.

Saturday marks the fourth straight game that will begin with Kim on the bench, as he's been conceding starts at the keystone to Miguel Rojas and Tommy Edman. Kim looks as though he'll have to settle for a regular reserve role with the recent return of Edman from the injured list creating a logjam in the infield.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Tests come back negative

A CT scan and an MRI on Marte's right foot came back negative Saturday, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

Marte sat out Friday's game due to a bruised right foot, and multiple tests have now confirmed that his injury isn't more serious than the team initially thought. The star second baseman will test his foot before Saturday's game against the Twins to determine whether he'll return to the starting lineup.

  • Mauricio Dubon 2B | ATL

Astros' Mauricio Dubon: Out of Saturday's lineup

Dubon isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Atlanta, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Dubon will get a chance to rest his legs Saturday after going 1-for-4 with two RBI in Friday's blowout victory. His absence will move Jose Altuve to second base while Zach Cole starts in left field.

  • Xavier Edwards 2B | MIA

Marlins' Xavier Edwards: Scratched from Saturday's lineup

Edwards has been removed from Saturday's lineup due to right wrist discomfort, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.

Edwards was initially penciled in as Miami's leadoff hitter and starter at second base, but he'll instead begin the contest on the bench. It's not clear if he may be available to enter later in the game. Miami should release an updated lineup shortly.

  • Edmundo Sosa 3B | PHI

Phillies' Edmundo Sosa: Out of lineup with groin issue

Sosa (groin) isn't starting Saturday versus Kansas City, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Sosa was pulled from Friday's series opener due to right groin tightness, and he's not in the lineup one day later. Manager Rob Thomson said after Friday's contest that Sosa's removal was precautionary, though the team figures to continue the cautious approach given the Phillies' 12-game cushion atop the NL East. With Sosa beginning on the bench Saturday, Bryson Stott is starting at shortstop while Donovan Walton is handling second base.

  • Jose Fermin 2B | STL

Cardinals' Jose Fermin: Officially called up

The Cardinals recalled Fermin from Triple-A Memphis on Saturday.

This move had been anticipated after Masyn Winn was shut down for the season Friday due to a knee injury. Fermin was just optioned to Memphis on Friday, and he didn't get into any games with the Redbirds during his latest (and briefest) time on their roster. Now that Fermin is back with the Cardinals, he'll likely serve as a utility infielder.

  • Orioles' Jeremiah Jackson: Sitting down Saturday

Jackson isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Blue Jays.

Jackson will get a chance to catch his breath after slashing .225/.279/.475 over 43 plate appearances through 10 games in September. His absence will allow Dylan Carlson, Colton Cowser and Dylan Beavers to start across Baltimore's outfield.

  • Jose Fermin 2B | STL

Cardinals' Jose Fermin: Set to be recalled

Fermin will be recalled from Triple-A Memphis on Saturday to take the roster spot vacated by Masyn Winn (knee), Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Fermin was just sent down Friday to accommodate the return of Brendan Donovan, but he'll rejoin the roster a day later after the Cardinals decided to shut Winn down for the season. While Fermin could see the occasional rep at shortstop while Winn is shelved, he'll likely operate mostly as a reserve infielder in the final weeks.

  • Thomas Saggese SS | STL

Cardinals' Thomas Saggese: Taking over at shortstop

Saggese will take over as the Cardinals' primary shortstop with Masyn Winn (knee) being shut down for the season, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

With Brendan Donovan back from the injured list and at second base Friday, Saggese had appeared set for his playing time to dip. However, he's now needed at shortstop, which should keep him in the lineup on a regular basis down the stretch. Saggese has been unable to capitalize on regular reps since the start of August, slashing just .262/.305/.311 with no home runs and a 40:7 K:BB.
