McNeil (back) underwent an MRI on Tuesday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

McNeil was a late scratch Monday due to lower-back tightness. How much more time he's set to miss depends on the results of the MRI.

Hoerner will be on the bench Tuesday against the Royals.

Hoerner grabbed at least one hit in each of his first five games but has since gone hitless in four straight. Jason Kipnis will be the second baseman Tuesday.

Rosario exited Monday's game against the Braves with left quad tightness, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

He couldn't run full speed to first base on a groundout early in the contest and was subsequently pulled with the injury. Andres Gimenez would likely get starts at shortstop if Rosario has to miss time. Rosario was 1-for-2 with a run scored prior to exiting.

Rosario left Monday's game against the Braves in the bottom of the third inning with an apparent injury, David Lennon of Newsday reports.

He ran slowly out of the box on a groundout and then exited the game. Andres Gimenez shifted to shortstop while Luis Guillorme came in to play third base.

McNeil was scratched from Monday's lineup after experiencing lower-back tightness during his pregame batting cage routine, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

It sounds like this could be just a day-to-day situation for McNeil, but back injuries are always tricky to predict. Luis Guillorme and Andres Gimenez could pick up extra starts at third base if McNeil misses more than just Monday's game.

McNeil was a last-minute scratch from Monday's lineup against the Braves, Steve Gelbs of SNY TV reports.

J.D. Davis will start at designated hitter with Dominic Smith starting in left field. There has been no reason given for McNeil's removal from the lineup.

Jackson joined the Angels' player pool Monday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Jackson will report to the team's alternate training site in Long Beach, CA. With no minor-league games this season, he'll get the chance to continue his development in the best available environment, though he's highly unlikely to make his debut this season, as he's yet to play above rookie ball.

Kemp is not in the lineup Monday against the Mariners.

Kemp doesn't appear to have the starting job at second base in Oakland, but it's not clear that anyone else does, either. Kemp has started four times in the first 10 games, while Chad Pinder, who starts Monday, has gotten the nod five times. Vimael Machin has started once.

Hernandez isn't in the lineup Monday against the Padres.

Hernandez will retreat to the bench for the third time in the past four games despite recording hits in his last three contests. Max Muncy will shift to the keystone with Matt Beaty starting at first base, batting eighth.

Mathias was recalled by the Brewers on Monday.

Mathias has yet to appear in the majors, but he'll join the Brewers' 30-man roster to play a bench role as part of a string of transactions. The 26-year-old spent the 2019 season at Triple-A Columbus, where he recorded a career-high .797 OPS with 12 home runs, 59 RBI and 13 stolen bases over 115 games, but he's unlikely to see significant playing time in Milwaukee.
