  • Lenyn Sosa 2B | TOR

Blue Jays' Lenyn Sosa: Resumes rehab assignment

Sosa (wrist) resumed his rehab assignment with Single-A Dunedin on Tuesday, going 1-for-2 with a double and a hit-by-pitch.

Sosa was pulled off his initial rehab assignment in late June following a setback. He should be ready to return later this month if he can avoid another snag in the recovery process, though it's unclear whether there will be room for him on the Blue Jays' active roster.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Lifts homer in loss

Marte went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Rockies.

Marte has gone 5-for-12, including three extra-base hits, over his last three games. The second baseman had picked up just one over the six contests prior to this turnaround. While his first-inning blast Tuesday gave the Diamondbacks a 2-0 lead, they weren't able to add to the score after that. Marte is batting .249 with a .758 OPS, 21 homers, 66 RBI, 63 runs scored, 23 doubles, three triples and four stolen bases over 115 games this season.

  • Brice Turang 2B | MIL

Brewers' Brice Turang: Suffers thumb sprain

Turang was diagnosed with a sprained thumb following Tuesday's loss to the Padres, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Turang remained in the game for the entirety of Tuesday's contest, so it's unclear when exactly he got hurt, but the Brewers may now be at risk of losing another infielder after placing Cooper Pratt (hamstring) on the injured list Sunday. Turang will presumably undergo imaging to determine the severity of his injury, and the team will likely know more about his status before Wednesday's series finale.

  • Jose Altuve 2B | HOU

Astros' Jose Altuve: Exits after HBP

Altuve was removed from Tuesday's game against the Giants after getting hit on the foot by a pitch, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Altuve took an 82-mph slider off his left foot in the first inning. He initially remained in the game but was eventually replaced on defense in the bottom of the second. He was diagnosed with a contusion after his removal, which suggests that he avoided a fracture, though the Astros may still keep him out another game or two as a precaution.

  • Ozzie Albies 2B | ATL

Braves' Ozzie Albies: Reaches 20-homer mark

Albies went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run during Atlanta's 4-0 win over the Mets on Tuesday.

Albies opened Tuesday's scoring with a solo homer off Nolan McLean in the fifth inning. It was Albies' sixth home run since the All-Star break and 20th of the year, marking the first time he's recorded at least 20 homers in a season since 2023 (33) and the fifth time in his major-league career. He has a .751 OPS with two steals and 64 RBI across 515 plate appearances on the year.

  • Red Sox's Isiah Kiner-Falefa: Shifts to 60-day IL

The Red Sox transferred Kiner-Falefa (forearm) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Tuesday.

The transaction clears up a spot on the 40-man roster and ensures that Kiner-Falefa won't be available for the Red Sox until at least Aug. 18 while he continues to recover from a stress reaction in his left forearm. Kiner-Falefa was cleared to begin a hitting progression shortly after the All-Star break, but it's unclear where he currently stands in his rehab program or how close he might be to heading out on a rehab assignment.

  • Chase Meidroth 2B | CHW

White Sox's Chase Meidroth: Remains out Tuesday

Meidroth (wrist) is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Reds.

Meidroth will sit out his second consecutive game as he tends to discomfort in his left wrist. Sam Antonacci will move over to second base again and bat eighth for the White Sox in their series opener against Cincinnati.

  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

Athletics' Jeff McNeil: Records steal Monday

McNeil went 2-for-4 with one RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Monday's 10-6 loss to the Rays.

McNeil has logged a steal in three straight contests, doubling his total to six for the year. The veteran infielder is currently holding down a strong-side platoon role at first base, sharing the position with Tommy White in the absence of Nick Kurtz (thumb), who is out indefinitely. McNeil is batting .254 with a .643 OPS, four home runs, six steals, 36 RBI, 32 runs scored and 13 doubles over 357 plate appearances this season, though it's a positive sign that he has a clear path to playing time.

  • Athletics' Jonathan Ornelas: Jettisoned from 40-man roster

The Athletics designated Ornelas for assignment Monday.

The move corresponds with the Athletics activating Zack Gelof (knee) from the 10-day injured list. Ornelas was brought up by the Athletics on July 31 to provide depth both in both the infield and outfield and went 2-for-12 with one walk and seven strikeouts across six games.

  • Luis Urias 2B | TOR

Blue Jays' Luis Urias: Shut down for two weeks

The Blue Jays announced Monday that Urias (quadriceps) will be shut down for the next two weeks, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Urias landed on the 10-day injured list last Friday with a right quad strain, and he's looking at a fairly lengthy absence. The infielder will need time to ramp back up following a two-week shutdown period and should eventually require a rehab assignment, likely putting him on the shelf for at least a month or so.
