  • Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC

Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Homers in Friday's loss

Hoerner went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and two total runs scored in Friday's 7-4 loss to the Astros.

Hoerner got the Cubs on the board with his fifth-inning homer. The middle infielder has hit safely in 14 of his last 16 games, going 20-for-57 (.351) with four extra-base hits in that span. Both of his homers this season have come over the last four games. He's added a .294/.339/.378 slash line with 34 RBI, 45 runs scored, 15 stolen bases, 17 doubles and a triple over 78 contests, so while he won't add much power, he has shown plenty of consistency with his bat and speed.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | TB

Rays' Brandon Lowe: Brings home four runs

Lowe went 3-for-5 with a double, a three-run home run, an RBI single and an additional run scored in Friday's 22-8 loss to Baltimore.

Lowe capped off the Rays' six-run second inning with a three-run homer to right-center field off Tomoyuki Sugano. Lowe brought home another run in the fourth, and his four RBI tied a season high. He extended his hitting streak to 14 games, during which he's slashed a blistering .404/.433/.649 with 13 runs scored, four home runs and 11 RBI in 60 plate appearances.

  • Andres Gimenez 2B | TOR

Blue Jays' Andres Gimenez: Trio of hits, RBI in easy win

Gimenez went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a walk in Friday's 9-1 win over the Red Sox.

Gimenez has struggled for the most part since coming off the injured list with a quadriceps injury, hitting .212 with one home run, two doubles, seven RBI and five runs scored over his last 66 at-bats. Despite that dry spell, Gimenez has remained Toronto's primary second baseman.

  • Jazz Chisholm CF | NYY

Yankees' Jazz Chisholm: Belts homer in 500th game

Chisholm went 1-for-4 with a solo homer in Friday's 3-0 win over the Athletics.

Chisholm -- in his 500th major-league game -- put the Yankees on the board in the second inning, when he took Mitch Spence deep to right field for a solo home run. Chisholm has gone long in back-to-back games and is up to 12 home runs on the season. He had a slow start to the season but has been hot at the plate as of late. Since the beginning of June, Chisholm has slashed .325/.384/.571 with four steals, four doubles, five home runs and 14 RBI in 86 plate appearances.

  • Michael Helman 2B | TEX

Rangers' Michael Helman: Called up by Texas

The Rangers recalled Helman from Triple-A Round Rock on Friday.

Helman will make his Rangers debut after being claimed by Texas on May 19. Since then, he's slashed .246/.306/.451 at Triple-A with five home runs and six stolen bases. He'll take Wyatt Langford's (oblique) spot on the active roster. Helman is likely to mix in at center field and left field, though he'll have to compete with the likes of Evan Carter, Alejandro Osuna and Sam Haggerty for playing time.

  • Jordan Lawlar SS | ARI

Diamondbacks' Jordan Lawlar: Diagnosed with Grade 1 strain

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Friday that Lawlar is dealing with a Grade 1 hamstring strain and will be out for "weeks," Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Lawlar suffered the injury while playing for Triple-A Reno, and he will miss extended time. A previous report indicated Lawlar would be out for at least a month, and Lovullo's words seem to back up that assessment.

  • Luis Urias 2B | ATH

    Athletics' Luis Urias: Idle Friday

Urias isn't part of the starting nine for Friday's game against the Yankees.

Urias will get the night off Friday after making nine consecutive starts at second base. In his place, Max Schuemann will bat ninth and play the keystone.

  • Brett Wisely 2B | ATL

Giants' Brett Wisely: Multi-hit effort in defeat

Wisely went 2-for-4 with a two-RBI double in Thursday's 12-5 loss to the Marlins.

Wisely appeared in just his second game since being called back up June 20 and recorded his first two hits of the season. He hit a two-RBI double in the fourth inning to tie the game at 5-5 and added a single in the sixth. He's slashing .143/.143/.214 with four RBI and a run scored across 16 big-league plate appearances.

  • Jordan Lawlar SS | ARI

Diamondbacks' Jordan Lawlar: Lands on minor-league IL

Lawlar was placed on Triple-A Reno's 7-day injured list Thursday due to a hamstring injury, Jack Sommers of SI.com reports.

Lawlar dealt with a hamstring issue last week into the beginning of this week, but he was back in Reno's lineup Wednesday. However, the talented young shortstop logged just one at-bat in his return before he was lifted, and he's now landed on the minor-league IL. Per Sommers, Lawlar will miss at least a month due to the injury, so he won't be back in action until late July, at the earliest.

  • Gleyber Torres 2B | DET

Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Homers in big win

Torres went 1-for-3 with a walk, a two-run home run and two total runs scored in Thursday's 8-0 win over the Athletics.

Torres provided a spark from the leadoff spot, smashing his eighth home run of the season in the seventh inning with a runner on. It was the infielder's first long ball since he went deep twice back on June 13, but he's continued to rake even without leaving the yard, as he's now batting .333 with seven RBI and eight runs scored in 11 games since that multi-homer effort. Torres is thriving near the top of a strong Detroit lineup in his first season with the Tigers and has an .816 OPS through 69 contests.
