  • Rockies' Cristhian Adames: Starting at second base Monday

Adames is batting seventh and starting at second base Monday versus the Reds, Zach Buchanan of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Adames is filling in for the second time in three days for D.J. LeMahieu, who has had some troubles with groin soreness over the weekend. The switch-hitter will have to hit against right-hander Dan Straily, and that could be a tough matchup, considering Adames' .515 OPS against righties in 32 at-bats against them last season.

  • Dodgers' Enrique Hernandez: Not in lineup Sunday

Hernandez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants, Eric Stephen of True Blue LA reports.

So ends a three-start run for Hernandez, who went an impressive 6-for-12 during that stretch with two homers and seven RBI. The Dodgers will use Howie Kendrick in left field Sunday to effectively fill Hernandez's spot, but the utility man should find his way into the lineup again in the near future due to his strong hitting to date along with his excellent positional versatility.

  • Gordon Beckham 2B | SEA

Braves' Gordon Beckham: Still feeling soreness

Beckham is still feeling soreness after being forced from Saturday's game with a hamstring injury, Kevin McAlpin of 680 The Fan reports.

Beckham will not be in the lineup for Sunday's game, and he will get another day to rest Monday without a game on the schedule for the Braves. The team is hoping a couple days off will help him avoid a stint on the disabled list, but that decision will ultimately be made at a later date.

  • Danny Espinosa 2B | NYM

Nationals' Danny Espinosa: Held out for first time this season

Espinosa is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies, according to Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post.

Espinosa is mired in a deep 2-for-24 slump, so manager Dusty Baker decided to give him his first day off the season Sunday, in hopes that a mental break will help him turn things around. Stephen Drew will start at shortstop for the Nationals on Sunday afternoon.

  • Phillies' Darnell Sweeney: Candidate for promotion

Sweeney is a candidate to be promoted from the minors if the Phillies don't start getting some production from their corner outfielders, Jeff Neiburg of CSN Philadelphia reports.

Cedric Hunter and Peter Bourjos have provided little offensively thus far. Sweeney is hitting .208 (5-for-24) with a double and two triples in eight games at Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Will Venable and David Lough are also candidates for a promotion if the Phillies decide to make a move.

  • Gordon Beckham 2B | SEA

Braves' Gordon Beckham: Leaves game with hamstring injury

Beckham was pulled from Saturday's game against the Marlins because of a hamstring injury.

Beckham was forced from the game with a hamstring injury and was replaced in the lineup by Daniel Castro. Beckham finishes the night 1-for-4 with a single and an RBI. The severity of the injury remains unclear at this point in time, so we'll have to wait for more news on the injury before offering further clarification. The Braves play the Marlins again on Sunday, so Beckham's availability for that outing remains unclear.

  • Dodgers' Enrique Hernandez: Hitting sixth against righty Saturday

Hernandez is starting in left field and hitting sixth Saturday against the Giants, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Everyone knows by now that Hernandez destroys lefties, but it is encouraging to see the Dodgers rewarding his big night Friday by giving him the start against tough righty Johnny Cueto on Saturday. If Hernandez can stay hot, he should be a staple in the Dodgers' lineup while Andre Ethier, Carl Crawford and Scott Van Slyke are all sidelined with injuries.

  • Gordon Beckham 2B | SEA

Braves' Gordon Beckham: Manages two hits, two RBI in Friday victory

Beckham was 2-for-4 with two RBI in Friday's 6-3 victory over the Marlins.

The utility infielder has been productive recently when called upon, with Friday's performance serving as the fourth time in the last six games that he's hit safely. The veteran doesn't offer much in the way of power, but provided some clutch hitting against the Marlins with a two-out eighth-inning single that plated Freddie Freeman. Beckham is slashing a modest .286/.375/.381 over 21 at-bats so far this season.

  • Dodgers' Enrique Hernandez: Belts a pair of bombs

Hernandez went 3-for-4 with a pair of solo home runs and a two-run double against the Giants on Friday.

Even more impressively, all three hits came off Madison Bumgarner. Hernandez is now 9-for-15 (.600) with six RBI and four runs batting out of the leadoff spot this season. He should continue seeing regular playing time as long as Scott Van Slyke and Carl Crawford are sidelined with injuries.

  • Giants' Kelby Tomlinson: In lineup Friday

Tomlinson is in the lineup Friday against the Dodgers, batting seventh and playing shortstop.

Brandon Crawford's hip flexor injury will keep him off the field Friday, so Tomlinson is set to take over at short for the Giants' series opener down in LA. Tomlinson got the start in place of Crawford when the Giants faced Dodgers' ace Clayton Kershaw last weekend and went 0-for-3 with a strikeout.
